Correct. Now all the emissions come out of a coal fired power station that you can't see from the inner city. Much better.

So you're saying electric cars are as clean as the electricity that charges them? Sounds like a good argument in favour of modernising power generation, not an argument against electric cars.

Not a great argument really. They’re not supposed to be perfectly clean, just better than petrol cars because they don’t push pollutants out from exhaust pipes where they affect the whole planet and where they’re impossible to catch and remediate. Focused mining/manufacturing emissions or pollution are multiple orders of magnitude easier to deal with.

Its really CO2 emissions that affect the entire planet rather than pollutants in general.
CO2 is the correct by-product of the combustion process. Like when you breath out pollutants. There are some cars that have lower CO2/kw than some of our power stations.
CO2 is also a natural part of the atmosphere.

Yes we need to reduce CO2 emissions, but its all silly and emotional to refer to it as "pollutants" , or "dirty".

There will be issues with the current designs of electric vehicle.

Nah there are a bunch of different pollutants in petrol exhaust fumes all of which affect the planet differently. Or rather the atmosphere I suppose is a better way to put it, because most don't affect the planet but affect the people. Sulfur dioxide, nitrogen dioxide, carbon monoxide, VOCs, particulates - all have some impact on those who breathe them in, and depending on climactic conditions on a given day you might breathe in more or less of them. There's a reason I bought a house nowhere near main roads, because I didn't want my lungs ****ed up by car exhaust.

These are impossible to mitigate because the cars are mobile, but if they were still being burnt yet coming from power stations then it's much easier to deal with emissions from a concentrated source (not that anyone's suggesting burning petrol in power stations). Or even better make it so that cars don't emit pollutants, seeing as most car traffic is near where people live and breathe.

Until you look into the push for gas to be the replacement for Coal, the gas cartels are making manufacturing industry costs untenable.😊

Nice conspiracy but Hard Solo has no issue with sales… it sells out as soon as it hits the shelves.

Have family working at Asahi & the story is as reported. Billson’s have a similar issue on their plate.

Hard Rated? Don’t mind the name change to be honest.

I don't mind it either, since i have no intention to pay more than twice what it costs to buy a bottle of Vodka and a bottle of Solo.

The pricing is more due to them being able to get good money exporting it in liquid form isn't it?

Its a pity, Gas can be like 1/4 the CO2 emission per kw than Coal, and it can be used on demand.
Gas Turbines can be started automatically in 5 minutes or so.
So it works pretty well if :
Sun Goes behind cloud , causing shortage.
Battery cuts in to instantly cover shortage.
Gas starts up , because battery cover doesn't last long.
Recharge battery when renewables are in oversupply.

Solar and Wind are always likely to run in oversupply and undersupply, unless you build a massive surplus in which case they will normally run in massive oversupply, and those running them won't make enough money.
Which is why private electricity supply kind of sucks.

Nuclear is clearly the way.

I would know. I’m a nuclear physicist 😎

Yep i'd love a nuclear car.
Small Reactor.
Probably need a Hummer , or a Unimog to put it in.

Hmmm they weigh about 50Tonnes.
Shit its all the lead, i recon lead is bad for the environment, so i'd pull off that lead from all around it to make fish sinkers.

I had a teacher in secondary school who had a doctorate in nuclear physics from Oxford.
Did him no good, he was from Yorkshire, and no-one had a clue about all the really smart stuff he was saying.

ill take your word on that from your position of superior knowledge on the matter ... but point still remains savy marketers can utilse the "anti woke" sentiments to stimulate sales and gain some free exposure when MSM run with it as a story

I found our recently that nuclear waste can be used as a power source and there is enough nuclear waste to power the USA for approximately 100 years. The technology has been around since the 1960s but was abandoned because it not able to be commercialized. Surely it is a technology worth reconsidering. The waste already exists, so why not utilize it.

Right vs Left politics

Cancel culture

The Middle East

The thread certainly can certainly lead one to a higher intellectual plane

I just want to say though…. How good are boobs?…. Seriously….. how good ARE boobs

Boobs are better than anything in the middle east ,and certainly should never be cancelled.
I like both the left and the right.

They’re super popular posters have been raving about them in the drinks thread. I don’t usually buy premix and even I’ve tried and enjoyed them.

The product is selling heaps. Nothing do with a failed launch, it's clearly to appease the small minded people who screech "think of the children" any chance they get.
The ones that get off on getting their 5 minutes of fame when companies inevitably bend to their will.

Pathetic stuff, but I saw this coming weeks ago. The sooner companies stop listening to the perpetually offended - the better.

If it was isolated then you just shrug and move on but everything offends someone these days. People need to start cheering when more companies start saying bad luck you don’t have to buy our products or like everything we do.

Need more CEO’s like Dana White that tell advertisers/punters to get f*cked when told to change/stop saying what he thinks.
