There is a more compassionate and campaignery version of the same thing. Both run a status quo type operation that is weighted towards interests of corporations and special interests. I prefer the humanist one because it makes me feel like a better person but I don't actually believe we have a great deal of control. If the US tells us to buy their subs we do it who ever is in power. If a bank wants to take back the money that the government handed out in covid they'll both stand by and watch it happen.

Morrison was a sell out to the evangelical christians and his leanings were to an even harder right. Albo seems like a meek guy with a good heart but a lack of grand vision. Dutton is like an 80s Queensland cop that got into politics. There is a difference but the core stuff is out of their control. It's decorating the Christmas tree. The people that represent us can change the way we see ourselves but not much in the real way things operate.

There are certain untouchables that are never changing no matter who is in power. A lot of the terrible stuff they do is what keeps our lifestyle and wealth in tact but they are peeling that back now. People that try to upset the apple cart don't last long in politics.

The hard right and the hard left are probably the same shit and both dangerous but the right has actually gained a lot of traction. I think the people who are cheering for it don't realise how that shit has turned out in history. Fascists and despots are not a great thing to live under. You have to be careful what you wish for.

What I think is bizarre is how people see the left and the right. What the left is now reminds me far more of what was once considered extreme right with regard to how they approach things.

A few years ago singer Macy Gray was interviewed and said she didn't believe trans women were women. That was it. She said she fully supports them and their right to live as they please. She just didn't think it made you an actual woman to change your body or to say that's how you felt. The backlash was instant. Within a week she was backpedaling like crazy, as so often is the case.

Rolling Stone magazine did an article on what she had said. In the article they said.....

One thing’s for sure: Gray’s antiquated, misguided, and hateful rhetoric surrounding trans people is the type of sentiment that has had deadly consequences. The violent killings of trans Black women Brazil Johnson and Kitty Monroe last week are just the most recent examples.

All she said was she didn't believe trans women are real women.

Even f'k'n Bluey isn't safe. In one episode the Dad wants to lose weight so he starts exercising. The episode was seen as toxic and fat shaming and has now been changed.

The politically correct left are vicious attack dogs trying to control how everyone thinks, speaks, acts.

Close enough, Part A is more "between straight socialism and anarchism, so don't chat about politics" fire was a reference to the latter as you know, water cannons get used generally speaking.

Part B is spot on, they literally had to tape a note to the door as he started wandering off trying to get into the staff toilets since he was near them, so had a nurse literally sitting by him so 1) he doesn't get up and fall on his arse immediately and 2) doesn't F with random patients or staff by forgetting where he is, where he is going and what's going on.

And they walked him 12 doors down, left him to do his thing and surprise pikachued when he stepped out and went "where am I? What am I doing here? Which room did I come from?" I was chatting to the nurses desk to locate him when he walked up in view with a rando nurse. So yeah, new room with a shitter is a good thing.
