Never been there but Lake Tyres used to have a pretty downbeat reputation. Lots of places have flashed up these days. Maffra had a brewery pub with decent food even. It's a million miles form anything.

Metung, especially the island across from the pub, has some serious ‘old money’. Went to a wedding there a few years back & it was dripping with cash.

Yeah, it's a place that lots of lawyers have property. It's a bit middle age men in white boat shoes and ladies with leathery orange faces and pastel slacks for me but it's a nice place.

Lakes entrance is a bit of a sh*thole imo. The Lake tyres pub was the nicest part of my visit.

Yeah, Lakes is a shit hole. It's a place to stop if you are heading up to the sapphire coast. It looks like a place that people who have spent time incarcerated go for holidays.

Not bagging, asking the question. Places get flashed up all the time. Lake Tyres was meant to be rough as **** back in the day. There was an aboriginal reserve down there and people in Gippsland talked about it like you'd get bashed for going anywhere near it.

Yeah used to stop there at maccas on the way to Merimbula as a kid, should have left it at that.

Yeah pretty much spot on McLoughlins and Manns beach are pretty much farked , One nice house for every 10 shanty's

McLoughlins has come up in the world a bit. Mostly modest but neat holiday homes.
Its a bit more popular than the real backwoods ones, because it has a good boatramp now, and access to the ocean.

Some nice places up the Sapphire Coast. Even a bit further up with Batemans Bay is nice.

Should have got a cheap Chinese phone they work just as well as Pixels.

The Latrobe Valley got an influx of welfare class when we wanted them out of the city so you have people who don't have a living relative that's ever had a job.

Morwell had a housing commission area when i was growing up.
Then later half of Churchill was housing commision.
Way to create a ghetto governments.

After the open cut fire, which was lit by local ferals, and then the local fire department played politics and stopped those employed by Hazelwood from putting it out. ( Something they had trained extensively to do ).
Someone there decided they would be able to sue everyone about the poor air quality in Morwell, supposedly caused by Power Stations , Open Cut etc.
My cousin was employed by Monash to conduct a research program. When i asked about it she told me, " if there isn't smoke from a fire, its a fair bit cleaner than the air in Melbourne".

I vaguely remember going there as a kid.
We'd stayed at Lake Entrance and gone to a different beach for boredom relief.
Also remember going there when i was a bit older, and netting a LOT of prawns.

Yeah it comes and goes, if its too risky for Captain Risky best avoid it. Better to use Port Albert unless you really want to get up northeast a long way.
