Yeah, in those Russian epics there is a lot of that going back to try to work out who the character you've come back to is. Even when you are reading through.
Someone needs to amend them replacing all the alphabet names with simple ones like Craig and George imo

No there is

You know what if you follow the conversation through you will find the poster and I who I was discussing the topic with had a very respectful conversation to the stage where I offered an invite to them if they ever wanted to visit this beautiful part of the world. I also made it very clear that no offence was taken. If people are offended because I offer some educational perspectives on Aboriginal people then so be it. I am sure gringo2011 will vouch for our good conversation.

I'm a believer in life long learning especially about racism and other isms.

Not a crack at you but I was at Victoria Park the day Nicky Winmar lifted his jumper. Will never forget the treatment he and Gilbert McAdam copped that day. Thank goodness we've moved on a long way from those days. Still a long way to go though.

I would say without a hitch, but...

One didn't use a glass, brought his own.
Proceeded to spill half of the contents on tiles, thankfully, for every drink he had.
Got complimented on my cooking, so thanks nona! You the best!
Failed on dessert, kinda forgot about it when stressing about dinner.
We only got the tree up, as it was in a shed for the remainder of the year a white tail had made the tinsel his residence, so that was a lost cause.
They were also early.
Otherwise, successful evening, one got plastered since he poured his own and has no class, the other had to decline a family member for a christmas visit since we had already made plans, so next year road trip! I now get to look forward to dishes for three people and mopping the floor as alcohol is sticky underfoot...

On the plus side, he rode a pushbike here and rode it back home, so burned off a small amount of that alcohol in exercise and I know he ate before consumption of a sizeable meal. Did my part, rest is on him.

Reading for a few reasons, regarding fiction reading I’m using it as a before bed practice to get my phone out of my hand and wind down.

I agree re: only reading classics, they’re often difficult reads in the language used and subject matter. I won’t stick to them forever but keen to knock a few over, give myself a challenge.

Nothing to be ashamed of with Harry Potter! I read them as they were released, so I was a child, but I’d stay up to all hours smashing them out. She’s a good egg is JK.

Good advice and suggestions YW, have added to my ever growing list! 😂 🍻
Wow, such a ****ing nerd! Embarrassing much!! 🤡🤡😭

I was there as well, absolutely horrific, Trust me I experienced it on a football field many times. I was called 'halfa ' meaning 'half caste, b#$^%, n$^%#$, c#$% and they were the nice names. I can't repeat what was said about my heritage, my mother, stolen generation references, my family. It was relentless. From the second the ball bounced. I had a rule on a footy field that I would not speak, not respond, not engage. Sometimes you would come off so angry and be hurting so much that you would almost be in tears, but I never gave anyone the pleasure of seeing that hurt. I usually found kicking a few more goals would shut them up. Would I do it differently now, by God I would. I would call it out every time, but as you said we are all moving forward and thank goodness Aboriginal people are learning that they do not have to experience such atrocities. Many of us older Aboriginals just copped it, that's why I tried to hide my identity as much as I could.

Not trying to steal StFly's thunder, but it was my turn today.
My old dad had an infection, and he was too fragile for treatment.
I got a call from my brother in the night and we all sat with him through to midday. Sometimes he would open his eyes, and it was good that he saw people he knew and loved.
We didn't know how long it would go on, so we split watches.
My brother called me an hour ago.

Pretty happy the Tigers won for him when they did.

I just filed an online report with the Council. In the section titled "what is the issue," I wrote, "Giant pothole capable of stocking trout"
They'll probably do feck all now but I feel strangely satisfied!

When writing to the council, it is best to stress that the hole, obstacle, overhanging tree etc is a physical danger and a possible liability to the council. Most (if not all councils) have as part of their insurance cover that if they are advised of a possible liability have a defined time line to fix it. Had a number of council concerns fixed immediately with the tag line, that in the event of personal injury or physical damage, this letter to the council will be given to the injured parties legal representatives. Nothing like their personal arse covering to get things moving.
Your great comment re the trout will be printed out and put on the office notice board or forwarded to work mates, but will get no action.

The storeman at work lost his license, so I lent him one of my electric bikes.
This morning I decided to ride to work and halfway there, I got a phone call from the storeman. He said he couldn't get his bike to turn on and he would be late to work. While I was talking to him the power on my electric bike shut off. I pushed the on button to turn the power back on, but without success. No matter how many times I pushed the button, I got nada. Then all these strange scenarios came into my mind. Did my battery get infected with a virus when I answered the phone. Was there some strange electro magnetic activity that was stopping our bikes from functioning. I tried in vain to fix the problem but to no avail. I had to ride the last 8 kms to work under my own steam. Not happy Jan!
When I got to work the storeman was already there. Turns out he had a loose wire. I pulled my battery out and put it back in and the bike started working again.
Weird coincidence. Cue the X files music!

You might want to get a fishing rod just in case they do stock it with trout. At least you’ll get something out of it.
