I read long form journalism, I follow lots of geo political/ political analysts on twitter and read up links they post. I reckon I have a better bullshit radar than most being a natural cynic and inclined to disbelieve people who like to talk a lot of bullshit. Trump isn't the answer but I can 100% see how he's come about. The political system has walked away from the people and acts for anyone who pays the most. Trump is at least saying what they want to hear and he's good theatre. Part of his appeal has to be nihilism.

Anyone that thinks he's some kind of policy genius and world diplomacy expert is off their nut. He's like Forrest Gump and Clark Griswold had a child and he became president. He's a cringey old paedo that has become Jesus for Americans so disenfranchised and left behind that they'll vote for something that is bad for them. But we never really got past the manufacturing on behalf of overseas owners.
Even the big flops like Ford and GM are still part of the USA economy, despite doing a lot of their manufacturing offshore now.
Tesla are manufacturing in China, but they are still a US company and bring money in.
We don't have a lot of that.
