Now I don't want to be patronising but save the politics talk for the grown ups little fella.

I'm gen X, we were free range self sufficient types. No 10 year old breast feeders in our lot. We had our formative years in a recession. We made nihilism look positive.

Trump used to declare bankrupt and rip of small businesses that were his creditors. He's spent his life grifting and ripping people off. The s**t they charged him with I don't give a s**t about. He ****ed around with the system and tried to cheat that even though, it's a pattern in his life. Doubt he goes for it because the whole system is corrupt. Doubt he faces any consequences because politicians don't go down.

You guys get off on his naughty boy antics, subverting the system but he's as subversive as the banking system. You guys need a real hero to come along so the robber baron doesn't look like your great hope.

USA law lets you declare chapter 11 bankruptcy, and write off the debt.
I know at least one case where a Korean company ( they have a similar law ), did it, and wrote off the debt of the Australian company.
Since we don't have this law, we should therefore prevent any company that has claimed chapter 11 from trading in Australia unless they repay their debt to Australian companies.
These could include.
Apple.
General Motors.
Chrysler.
Marvel Entertainment

No wonder there are not many "big" Australian companies.

Watched S1, then let it slide. Watched 5 as John Hamm and Juno Temple were the stars.
Might go back to S2, if I can convince my wife.

I don't mind resource extraction as part of a balanced economy, it's necessary and you can manage it well to create enduring long term value for the country. Norway did a good job - their sovereign wealth fund has US$1.5t in assets.

Unfortunately as you say we didn't do that here. Still time but I doubt any government touches it after the political fiasco that was the MRRT. Textbook example of vested interests perverting the political system by whinging publicly and convincing dumb people on one side of politics to act against the interests of the country. A mate was a senior advisor for the federal coalition at the time and he said everyone knew it was bad policy but they couldn't turn down the political benefits.

Imagine if we saved a bunch of resource extraction cash and used it to fund startups and companies that could become world class, especially in agtech or fintech. No, that would have been too visionary.

We get nearly zero from our gas. We send it overseas and all the money goes with it. A family friend worked for KPMG and reckons that when they looked into the gas industry that people would storm the parliament wanting answers if they saw what they'd done with it. FA royalties, FA tax and we don't hold any for our citizens. We can buy it retail from Japan and ship it back cheaper than the wholesale price and it belongs to the nation. Was signed back years ago, hopefully some pollie got a nice pool out of it.

If housing falls over we are very exposed.

I can't remember the order but liked all of them. The original film was good too. Juno Temple did a pretty good job for a pom in a pretty tricky role.
