ANZAC round fills me with mixed emotions these days.

My best mate is ex navy and served on the patrol boats in Darwin.

He's told me some of the stories and how awful the Navy at the time was.

This is someone who I've known for his entire life wanting to serve in the navy.

He's never once worn his service medals in civilian life

I remember back in the day, i'd go to a laudromat on like a wednesday night in footascray.
It was alway empty, i'd bring stubbies or a bottle of wine, battery cassette player, blasting out Accadacca or Yes or pink floyd or .....could have been anything.

I'd be sitting reading a book. Nothing ever happened.

Eventually i bought a washing machine on trading post
Art for one random person - I remember back in the day I made an artwork consisting of a large vintage child's soft toy clown purchased from an op shop, which I nailed to also vintage curtain rods in T - formation as a kind of an updated vision of Jesus Christ on the cross. I left it late at night, upright in the centre agitator of a washing machine with it's lid up in a laundrymat near Moorabbin Train Station at Easter, I had never been into this laundry mat before or since. I was 18 at the time. I was acting alone. Sorry if this offends anyone.

It's amazing how many of the fans who have become disgruntled so quickly were possibly the same fans heralding his return and delighting in Ross bringing an uncompromising, brutal and demanding style back. And all this against the backdrop of modern coaching styles being the caring, sharing Ted Laso and Craig McCrae trend.

The bottom line is it would be near dam impossible to be successful in any leadership type role during the Trumpism era of mankind.
FMD it is amazing how much Trump lives in people's head rent free.

I see so many people have a borderline obsession with everything Trump. My dad is in the same category. The supermarket is out of milk it will be a Trump related issue.

I am no Trump supporter, just find it fascinating how obsessed people are. Meanwhile, the current president is weeing himself, can't even talk, is regularly sniffing kids like an absolute creep, has a heroin fueled son doing dodgy deals for the "big guy", and it garners no attention whatsoever.

Strange times indeed.

Anyone else watch the Fallout series?

Went in to it extremely skeptical, even with all the positive hype around it - a good series these days is rare, not to mention a video game adaptation.

But I have to say, I actually genuinely enjoyed it. I don't know how good it would come across to somebody not familiar with the franchise, but I was really impressed with how true they were to the world - just a shame it was the 'Bethesda' version of the universe and not more like the originals. But, everything from the sets to the brands of cereal and the cartoons on the TV were on-point within the universe. The Pip Boys and PC Terminals were particularly impressive.

Characters were good, at first I wasn't a fan but they grew on me and felt convincing in the end - not like other shows that try to make everybody perfect and likeable. Recommend giving it a watch if it's something you might be interested in.

Seen the first 2 eps, not big on Fallout lore and such as that's more the sisters cup of tea, either way, it seems alright without being outstanding really. All I know is, it's better than her other recommendation of Rebel Moon, as I kinda laughed all the way through that one.

Mixed bag I guess, my father in law was regular navy as was my wife’s uncle and my cousin was US navy. Now I’m talking active service during Vietnam and other conflicts, not a bad word between them. This will be my father in-laws last Anzac day as he has mesothelioma due to his service.

I remember my great grandfathers who spoke about their service as anzacs and my father who rarely if ever spoke about the war in the pacific as a US serviceman. Anyway I celebrate their service on Anzac Day and remember the fallen, nobody ever said it was a hobbit walking tour.

I loved it, very well done imo.

Weirdest part about Tesla was always the cult of personality around Musk. No idea how that happened or why people became such disciples.

But it’s interesting that at this point they’re failing not because EV sales are falling - they’re not, they’re sky rocketing - but just because Tesla itself isn’t doing as good a job as the Chinese manufacturers at filling that demand.

I’ve got no doubt Tesla could theoretically keep existing as a niche luxury brand for decades to come, sitting at 0.2% - 0.5% market share globally. But in practice I agree with the video that Musk is far more likely to run them into the ground instead.

Elon seems to get a bit distracted, self-driving, rockets, twitter.
They have the same 2 Tesla models they had years ago.

I drive a Ford Territory. Its stale, it still goes as fast as most bread and butter cars on the road. Its ride/handling is better than most, certainly better than any of the leaf sprung off road vehicles. But its stale, out of fashion, that's the nature of the business.
People are used to what the Tesla's look like now. ( The little one is sort of a dodgem car with a roof ). Their competitors look shiny and new. Not necessarily better.

Tesla also have a bit of a funny system with servicing etc, and that might put off a few buyers.

When you look at the new European cars, not all of them drive down the road screaming "look at me , i'm electric " and possibly there are quite a few buyers who aren't in it for the attention seeking.
( Look at poor Barry on the Toyota commercial , mind you Barry seems to be a bit of a moron. duh...i'll buy any crap...cos its a Toyoda ...,.).

One of my favorite cars ever was a Mazda 121 bubble car. It was eventually replaced by a Proton that i bought because it was the cheapest ( non-micro ) new car on the market. Around $13000 i think.
I'd love to have an exotic car...if someone else bought it and kept it on the road for me.

At some point we bought a new Honda Civic and I got my wife's Territory to drive, and my son got my Proton, which i miss.
When we separated my wife took the new Honda.

2007 Honda Jazz on my end, I like the whole "oh shit a gust of wind" movement with a small car, and it takes corners very well.

I like how Honda really compacted the engine and drive train into the front, leaving a surprising lot of space in the rest of the vehicle. Some of the newer cars are all bonnet.

This is what I also saw when I looked at maybe updating to something newer, it was all a bit, well, cheap, and not as much junk in that trunk. So it's like sure, it struggles up a rise and it's very basic in design, but, as you say, compact beast and has space in that trunk where I picked up my own 55" TV with it and the cabinet that is is currently sitting on just by folding seats down.

Has space and a nice arse for a car.

Main thing I like is that it doesn’t have too many computers in it. **** all these new touch screens and whatever - how is it safe to have to look down to swipe the screen? And just more shit to go wrong in your car.

Non-tactile controls should never have been permitted.
And while gullible consumers think its an upgrade..".hey its technology ...like your phone".
Its a costdown on the behalf of the car makers.

Plenty of visual displays on the newest fighter jets, but the actual controls are still made for big ham fisted pilots.
