It is bad being called a racist, even by a moron, or by a clever person who knows just one moron will interpret it as legit. Witchburning in medevil villages was not talked about, just in case. Hail Mary and move on. Talk about the weather.

but serious for a moment. it hurts and the damage is huge. Suicide? Maybe not. One more step down the road to more alienation. Absolutely.

Makes us nod. We know, again, why older people speak less. And less.
What I find incredible is that it's the ultra woke nuffies who have the reputation of being hysterical and over emotional.

Then we have people who don't like being racist comparing themselves to people who were literally burned to death.

I've been called racist, sexist, homophobic, transphobic and all the rest online before and it doesn't bother me for a minute because I'm pretty comfortable with where I sit on those topics.

Being called racist stopped mattering almost 10 years ago.

That’s the problem with throwing words around like that at anyone you don’t like. They become powerless.

Fascist is another, nazi has also lost its power.
Shut up you racist Nazi [emoji6][emoji6]

I hate lazy labelling just to shut down alternative arguments.
The one I really dislike is labelling 2nd wave feminists as TERF's because they see the space they worked for all their life being colonised by 'women with penises'.

FFS I have zero problem with Trans, shared a house with a Trans woman way back in the 80's, wonderful, if a bit sad person. But the hate and backlash towards older women who feel these people brought up with male entitlement now demand their space is sickening in my view.
As Ricky Gervais says 'live your best life, just lose the c**k'.

Isn't it an accurate term? If they're a radical feminist who excludes trans women from their considerations?

Like I think it's fair to say someone like JK Rowling is objectively a TERF. It's then up to each individual to decide if that's a bad thing or not.

We need language to describe social distinctions. People tend to get upset when they get a label that they feel has an unfairly negative connotation because from their point of view, their beliefs and attitudes are "normal" and it's only those ideologies that deviate from theirs that require distinction.

For a start, they are not 'radical' feminists, they are just feminists, their goals are now fairly mainstream, not radical at all.

They were labelled 'radical' as it didn't conform to the prevailing orthodoxy and was meant to devalue their movement like all pejorative labelling does.
Secondly they don't exclude Trans people, they want to just make sure their hard won rights are maintained.
So the whole TERF label is that is incorrect, another attempt to devalue 2nd wave feminists and for the labellers to play victim.
It is a disgusting term that in my view once again victimises women of a certain age who campaigned and paid the price for women's rights, rights that younger women take for granted and now uses it against them.

Meanwhile, we just delivered a stack of used primary student desks to my village so that the kids no longer have to sit on the floor and work.

Second wave feminism is pretty radical to a lot of people in today's political climate.

They do exclude trans women though, it's just a matter of perspective. If you believe they're blokes then it's common sense to exclude them from feminist objectives.

You could just call them second wave feminists, but a lot of TERFs weren't even born during the second wave so it would be an anachronistic term.

Maybe we need another term for Trans Exclusionary Moderate Feminists to make everyone happy.

Yeah, interesting watching anti semitism losing its impact because of Gaza. There was a time that you'd never shake that stain on your reputation. Purely because it's being over used for things that are obviously not anti semitic. It's a real danger throwing labels around. There are Jewish protestors getting arrested for anti semitism. It's obviously nuts at that point.

The funny thing is they've stolen the use of the word semitic.

A wikipedia quote.
Semitic people or Semites is a term for an ethnic, cultural or racial group associated with people of the Middle East, including Arabs, Jews, Akkadians, and Phoenicians.

Would it be incorrect to state that the Israeli's are against Semitics. Don't like Semitics? Kill a lot of Semitics?

It's hard to work out what triggered you here mate after a mod clean-up, but don't let a random trash thread ruin your footy forum shenanigans.

Just to chime in, there was no cleanup or deleted posts so I'm a bit confused too.

Possibly just a bad day but Yawkey way please feel free to reach out to myself or any of the other mods if we can help with anything.

And let's remember that just because this is a 'random' thread doesn't give anyone the license to be a campaigner - let's remember there are real people behind these usernames and be good to each other please.

But now, how do they draw on the floor with desks in the way to eventually not have plumbing with any fort builds? Backwards planning man...

I kid of course, in reality, I'm shitting bricks as spoke to lawyer yesterday and they haven't sent a bill yet...

Not an ounce of facetiousness in the question.

Does cooker mean correct in your boomer world?? 😎

It means I'm better than you because I'm compliant and the drugs they gave me have increased my smugness hormone levels.

Science isn't always right but nothing in the universe is. The stupidity of writing-off all advancements using scant evidence is troubling to me but each their own.

So, in typical Gringo style, you’ve parroted my exact point back to me like it’s your idea 😎

I have never and will never do this so unsure what this is alluding to

Needless to say, you remain my favourite and I will always love and respect you 🥰

Physics always wins, your own fault if you don't understand it.
Good luck Uber and your stupid flying taxi's. Someone got a little drone for Xmas one year and thought they could just upscale it.

Old James Bond movies on FTA. Last night Thunderball.
Tonight "You only live twice."

Really like the 1960s stuff, just the background scenery, cars , buildings etc.
Luxury placed depicted in japan, Large flatscreen tv's , home automation ( auto curtains , windows etc ) stuff that's available now, but still not commonplace.

The Toyota 2000GT convertible is awesome. ( a production Toyota 2000GT coupe is now worth 1.1 million USD )

Then there's the blatant sexism. You'd go to jail for what he did in Thunderball.

1) "What I find incredible is that it's the ultra woke nuffies who have the reputation of being hysterical and over emotional."
..finish the sentence. You are shocked that- or surprised - or find it ironic that - 'ultra woke nuffies' are (and here is my interpretation) ..you are surprised that they are somehow 'accused, laughed at, belittled, condescended' by (a) mainstream media? (b) out of touch 'boomers' (c) some estranged losers/misfits/wounded and discomforted? (d) academia (e) regular punters down the pub (f) mates at the local pool/gym ?

2) "Then we have people who don't like being racist comparing themselves to people who were literally burned to death"

EDIT: I think I understand what you wanna say, but,,,,
'Don't like being racist'??? WTF does that mean? You mean there are two sets of people? Set A: I don't like being racist Set B: I like being racist? Are you saying there are people who don't mind being perceived by their neighbours as being racist and there are others that do?

3) "I've been called racist, sexist, homophobic, transphobic and all the rest online before and it doesn't bother me for a minute because I'm pretty comfortable with where I sit on those topics."

Pretty comfortable. I believe you BUT may I dare to ask, for the sake of argument....'arc

You are a Jewish baker in Latvia in 1942. You are comfortable. You don't give a rats about this or that..so what..that kinda stuff. But now you are marching down to the railway station for a nice lil trip to a place with a big sign on the gates saying, "Arbeit Macht Frei" ..(Work makes you free)

In that scenario, it doesn't matter if you are comfortable in your beliefs or not.

If that is too heavy. Think of the sandpit. Four years old. You are loved and you know nothing else. Some dick pushes you into the sand.

Or you are 7, 9,11 or 13. And you have carrots in your lunch box...And the bully starts calling you carrot face. You are almost in tears. You go home. You don't know what to tell your parents. Your parents just say, 'Be happy with what your have. Carrots are your favorite'

I realise that everything you said could be interpreted ironically. Did I miss something..or essentially..THIS?

All i can say is my initial post left out a word, I meant to say was that "people who don't like being (CALLED) racist comparing themselves to people who were litealy burned to death". Wasn't making a judgement on whether anyone was or wasn't racist.

As for your post... I am genuinely clueless as to what you are trying to say.
