Not really Zelensky forgot where he was and what he was there to do. Unbelievably stupid under the circumstances and he got taken to task and was bluntly told a few home truths.

Interesting watching what usually goes on behind the curtain happening in full view of the public. Don’t get me wrong the US isn’t blameless in this a fact that’s widely known but it’s a new President and he’s trying to follow through with his promise to end the war.

If Zelensky wants to continue it then it won’t be with US weapons let alone US boots on the ground. Of course he’s free to find other backers but I think you’ll find he’ll be back that is assuming his position isn’t already untenable.

I was speaking more broadly. It's just a very rock'n'roll thing to see.

While I often like Trump's tell it like it is approach (I find it refreshing), I'm not sure having those sort of conversations with world leaders in front of the public is a good idea.

I guess we'll see.

Plenty of aluminum in modern warships nowadays. !

The figure for iron ore is of course much larger in volume but represents 80% of our exports and 91 billion dollars in 2023!

But yes, it is iron ore that makes the steel and I was daft to say steel- we export iron ore AND bauxite. 95% bauxite exports are to China. It’s huge! 80% of our ore.

The west has largely done holding actions cause they thought Russia cared about being a country and its citizens. Personally I lol'd at that, back in schooling my focus was Physics as who doesn't like space and how things work, and secondly as a kid that liked dinosaurs History of Revolutions, cause as a species we do some wonderous things and have wonderful people - that all get crushed buy a guy with a gym and some siege engines to utterly wipe out entire civilisations and rewrite things to their liking.

Also why I don't chat political things, I am hard bottom left quad that makes Ghandi look centrist and was the 'anarchist' of the group as person great, people stupid things that trend to murder neighbours to retain power things, never happy.

Ukraine can win on the basis that they can actually enter Russia, because as shown they can reach Moscow with drones, they can reach with demolition things, given the means Ukraine can F Russia up.

The problem is that they need to maintain their sovereignty in a defensive action. Russia as the agressor can do whatever the frig they want outside of nuking the place or ebign ovious with things like white phosperous for chemical things. You know, things that ruin the land, air and water. So Ukraine wins with peace keepers on their land to maintain that defense so you hav an equal fight at a border. Ie the current zoning. As then;

Ukraine can demo literally everything they so please west of them, and not just cop it.

This is chiefly because as it stands; Russia is the largest continuous country by a fair distance on the globe. it is what an Empire would usually have been, and it wants more. So shed land, and since Moscow contorlled things during "murderous" eras; penal colony it for later reintegration. Anything else is kicking can down the road or forcing a later conflict. Russia projects the strongman, projects the 2nd strongest global military, projects the "our desire is all that matters", it needs to be humbled, once humbled it needs to be crushed mentally to rebuild that societal will. As it has been far too long for Russia to have a will that wasn't BS propaganda.

Ukraine then wins as is sovereignty is maintained and the core agressor for that region is neutered.

So more of the same or if Zelensky had his way the expressway to a broader conflict and WW111. He’s in a lousy position a cease fire and a potential deal should look fantastic to him imo. Should Russia have invaded, obviously not and I can’t find anyone saying it was justified.

I find that troubling. You don't like someone you'd never heard of because of the way he's been portrayed in one media story. I'm progressive and a left leaning centrist but hate the pile on trial by media. His career is probably over but all of a sudden he's an unemployed person with no-one willing to touch him.

What if he goes and tops himself out of shame and confusion? It's a human being with a life and people. He's made a grave error but shouldn't get removed from public life because of it. Let him regain his reputation.

Yeah, that meeting went fine for 40 minutes until Zelensky started throwing some curveballs which obviously derailed things.

There’s a reason why these media filmed meetings are highly scripted and have no actual substance being discussed. Discussions like that should take place behind closed doors.
