Weird they alerted PNG and not us.
(And PNG didn’t pass the info on to their sugar daddy)

China wanted to show us who's boss after shitting them. They own the future, there is nothing good to be gained by making them hostile towards us.
Maybe they’d be interested in an NRL Team 🤔

I know **** all about PNG but aren't they locked in to Belt and Road? Maybe we're not their sugar daddy any more.

China uses soft diplomacy by building stuff across the pacific. We aren't their sugar daddy any more.

We had Hello Fresh delivered on Sunday, I was in the office (at the very front of the house, literally a few feet from the front door) and the guy dropped the box at the door, and did not knock, did not press the bell, just dropped it a the door and walked away!!

Seriously, if you don't have the arm strength to knock, just press the damn bell !!!!
Wish I got that. Even with a german shepherd telling everyone in the neighbourhood I have a delivery from inside the door, they ring the bell just in case I couldnt hear the chaos. Ofcourse the dog cranks it up a bit more with that.

No we are not but we should still send their anti Aussie Embassy staff packing

We need them more than they need us. No-one works against us more than our allies.

I have one of those door bell cameras. Funny to see the delivery guys drop the package and run for their vehicles when my little corgi barks at them from behind a locked wire screen door.

The Commonwealth of Australia has pretty much gave up soft power to china with regards to pacific nations.

However creating defence deals with Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, Vietnam (They really hate china), Souf Korea, Singapore and Japan.

Australia can leverage that those nations do have an anti china bend and also allows us to rely less on the USA, would also bring NZ into this as well.

We are in multi-polar world lads, the Post cold war era is over.

I always find it curious how the media treat China as an imperialist threat.
They have one overseas base in Africa.

By contrast the real imperialists have more than 128 overseas military bases with over 160,000 military personnel manning those bases.
Anyone want to have a stab who this imperial power is?

I don't think it's treated as an imperialist threat, it's treated as a "soft power" threat to circumvent global standards at present that make people consider it as such.

Portugal, since we're going back to Empire days apparently.

Debt Trap Diplomacy

It seems like they are paying for it without leaving debt in a lot of cases. It's probably at the expectation that governments give them favourable treatment though. With Australia trying to suck up, it will be like being in Jacquie Lambie's seat during a hung parliament.

Being geographically advantaged in the Asian century should be an opportunity but we seem determined to tie ourselves to the past, even when it seems like the US is going isolationist and an unstable partner. It's like turning down the job of a lifetime to move in with your erratic junkie boyfriend.

They take over the facility when the host country can no longer afford the payments. Definitley a debt trap.

I would like to ask my fellow Saints fans about their experiences overseas with ANZ Credit Cards.

Does this seem par for the course?

You notify the ANZ bank on their website about your intention to travel so as to prevent an automatic trigger to lock your card for ‘suspicious activity’ .

1) you go OS and soon enough go to the ATM to get cash withdraw because you do need some cash in SE Asia. It works, the first time. Second time declined.
2) you try to make a credit cash purchase - declined
3) you try to make an overseas call to ANZ support on your phone which has a local sim in it and cannot support international calls- you can’t tip it up because your credit card doesn’t work.
4) you come back to the hotel and beg a clerk at the front desk to make an emergency call to the ANZ support service - you are in hold for over thirty minutes on international rates on someone eles’s phone . Finally you get through to a call centre in the Philippines where you have all your credentials meticulously checked (in return the person you talk to gives you no name -refuses- no employee number, no call centre name or number , no identification at all. 4) eventually, the person at the call centre says they will ‘forward a request to the security team to u lock your card’ . 30 minutes later, you card is unlocked. You beg upon the call centre staff to assure you that this won’t happen again- they say it shouldn’t .

5) You are wary of ATMs after this experience . You try once - it works. The second time - bang locked again.

6) you go through the entire process all over again. Different town, different hotel clerk. You are sweating every time you use your card that thely lock it again.

fair dinkum
It is so stressful it really screws up your day and adds a constant tension to your solo vacation. Being completely helpless and the call centre having no accountability!

That sounds like a totally ****ed system. Maybe email your branch if they still have one.

So... gender identity classes start for my 12 year old son next week.

Peronally I'd have him opt out of the classes but the ex will be against that.

Interesting times ahead.

Spoke to the school about this. It's been put off until later in the year.

Basically, the kids will be shown the following video, then asked to complete some work on it.

FYI this isn't just my kid's school. Gender identity is taught state wide.

I'll take a few days to put my thoughts together clearly, then contact the school again.

While I completely understand that promoting kindness and understanding is important, there are things in the video I fundamentally disagree with.
