Note sure about your specific case but what im referencing is really just the actual money making aspect of it. If it eternally runs at a loss its just not going to survive.

Ill re-iterate that my knowledge is podcast level of expertise in this but Sam Altman/OpenAI has been specifically singled out as basically blowing a ton of smoke up people's asses about their product. Could be wrong but the people discussing this seemed to know their stuff.

Altman is total campaigner but he's not wrong about the speeding up of the tech. The US spent billions on it while China open sourced theirs. The US model is putting all of its servers in one place too. The US is blocking access to China's AI but people will just geo-block and use it anyway.

1) I don’t see a conflict between blowing smoke and actually having a decent product. Both can co-exist. It is our natural tendency to think something or someone is either substance OR smoke. And politicians are a good example. They cultivate the dichotomy for PR but are actually complex beasts..with a bit of both. Still we need a 0 or a 1 - even voting. Or wait..maybe we vote -0.03 is better than -0.02 ?

2) Re money making …it might not make a dollar, like a train line operates in the red, all the while supporting real estate prices, speculators, and development all along that line.

3) And another thing about money - we won’t sit around like COVID because we are competitive animals, and we will always be trying to screw each other out of a buck and setting up cliques and privileges for certain groups and their members. We will find ways to qualify and rank and the winners will take more. Even if it is like the Great Depression in the 1930s with 30% unemployment - some will do OK. Can you imagine the kids discussing this at Harvard now, just musing about how they can engineer a massive clean up, like the Silicon Valley kids did in the ‘90s. I’m still using AGODA today, knowing 17% of my hotel fee goes straight into their pockets!

I'm deep in this world. Basically what you say is true for consumer-facing AI applications but there's going to be a serious number of business-facing AI applications which hollow out whole departments, so the cost of the AI there can be pretty high and still make lots of money.

Well let me just say that here in Southeast Qld, surf's up! Quite spectacular, was watching some dudes getting towed-in with jet skis yesterday arv, a little too big for me! 😵‍💫 Went out just now for a bit of a look around and the boys and girls are pumped that today will be even bigger. The sweep down the beach is intense, no paddling into these mofos! There's definitely some excitement/trepidation in the air with Alfie now heading directly this way.

Last time there was a heavy downpour and we got a random hurricane on my end, as I live up the top of a rise and was a kid at the time, we helped out the old man to clear our standing water into storm water, down at the bottom the hill I literally saw a guy walk out, look a little bit further down, walk back to out of sight and them come back out with a random kayak, toss that into the standing water and just start paddling around in circles.

I thought what a mad lad to look at a random body of water on asphalt and go "Ima boat on that" as a first response whilst i was basically making sure my elderly neighbour was fine as man was a Saints supporter and had tea dates with muh mum cause he needed company. We liked him.

I imagine it's an Aussie thing that as long as you're not straight in danger, you look at potentially hazardous things as "I can so take this..." and switch to possible enjoyment. With a cyclone I imagine the surfer bro's made that choice willingly.

When i was into windsurfing in the 80s, i used to try to sail in the strongest wind.
I can still remember sailing out of Elwood in 100km/h+ offshore winds. Plenty on the beach but i was the only one sailing. The water was fairly flat ( offshore Northerly ), but i could make the board jump just by tilting the front edge to catch the wind and leaning back. I kind of figure that if something went wrong it would just be a bitch getting back from Geelong or Sorrento.

There was one time at Cape Woolamai, I'd struggled to get out through the surf, which was totally closed out and just getting bigger and bigger the further i went. Finally i came off , and looked around at the size of the constantly breaking waves all around me. Declared myself insane and went back to the beach.

I assume you got off the island OK.

John Cena turned heel, a lot of kids just had their first heartbreak/ fictional 9/11
havent follwed anything since about a year after the buy up of WCW
but he was always turning heal, even hinted it, to put cody over at WMania and pass a torch (imo)

Usually talk about the Saints doesn't really get me going.

Get the board out of the shed it’s big Wednesday, paddle in or xxxx off 🤣🤣.

Seriously let’s hope it’s not as bad as predicted, stay safe.

Don't know about the Cyclone and care even less but I'm predicting that on the couch will be shit house this year with that dopey Tasmanian as the host.
I haven’t watched any of the football shows, Lyon left for 360 and Jack Riewoldt replaced him. Yeah I’m not sure that’s a win for either program. I actually found Robo quite amusing when I could be bothered to watch, I’m not a fan of Garry.

Have a colleague in the path of it apparently, she stated;

Green Day playing in Brissie - cancelled.
Shops apparently closed 20mins ago.
Public Transport also is not running.

So Sunshine Coast area is battening down for Alfie to make landfall in the next 48hr as of 5pm AEST today.

So fair to say we all hope everyone is and remains safe in that path.

I come in good faith.
Had an argument with a saints man last week.
Who is better Steele or Cunnington.
I know this is so dumb and probably disruptive but I would love to hear what you guys think and why?
Bias-awareness appreciated.

genuinely sorry, happy to delete.

Unless a mod tells you to GAGF or you're being openly belligerent, you're fine, dun worry about the "us against them" instances from some.

To answer question: stats wise Steele is objectively better, just reached higher highs in his personal game, more AA's more club awards, more bells to ring. They are basically on par with each other with how each club used them or what they meant to each club at any single point, I'd probably argue that Steele is more integral to our midfield than Cunnington was to yours (assuming Ben and you don't have another running around somewhere as I CBF checking) but it's really bees instances looking in and throwing darts.

Yes I have a lot of friends on both coasts and two of my wife’s sisters are in Brisbane. Let’s just hope it’s not as bad as predicted.

The "funny" thing is, I have a cousin near Mackay so he would be fine if he wasn't down in Brissie at present, another colleague is around Gympie and she was "it looks a bit foreboding" and the other one on the SC is giving hourly weather updates and being all "I took my dog out for a walk and there were zero bird noises, it was eerie AF".

So all in same state and all giving different updates just cause distance or with the cousin as he grew up on farming it was just "looks a bit shit, everyone's panic buying things, it's hilarious".

Steele peaked higher but I think Cunnington far more consistent. 5 seasons of 45 coaches votes or more while Steele's only had 2.

Both excellent AFL footballers. Steele has been a dual AA and dual B&F. If you wanted a swap I would say no.
