Triggered all the space nuts with just that statement.

As an aside, how about knocking on that window to be all "oi, open the door and let me in FFS" before launch. Blue origin, more like Blue faced with rage that you couldn't open it externally.

And as a space guy, depends how far they went to the karman line before dropping, as this is the recognised boundary of and as we know if you don't go past that boundary then you never went to space and just looked in like a perv then ran away back home.

Talking of space, has anyone see that stuff about K2-18b. Scientists are saying that there is a 97% chance that it has life on it. Ocean planet with oxygen rich atmosphere but also has the DMS gasses that are emitted from lifeforms like phytoplankton.

They found gasses conducive to such, so bodes well but there's still "reasons" that it does like all the others and dies horribly and gives no data to suggest as such. So they have the gas part and not the hydrogen part for example. They also dunno if it is a mini Neptune and just has storms and no land instances or if there is actual instances to draw from to say with any sort of certainty for that 97% claim.

So "potential" still, and carbon based there's no real talk of o2, more methane and carbon dioxide.

Don't forget there was previous talks about finding things in certain bands of Venus' atmosphere as "conducive to life" what 5 years ago that has gone absolutely nowhere as Venus is a hot mess of a planet with a purdy colour scheme.

Russia took control of Crimea in 2014. It’s strange that those who didn’t care 10 years ago, suddenly see it as a non-negotiable.

This looks much more likely. The James Webb telescope is a whole different kettle of fish. I think that they are claiming that we should have a confirmation reading in 2 years.

It certainly doesn't definitively prove it but definitely makes it look likely. The chances of life not being on any other planet are super remote. There are so many stars out there surely with that many worlds out there something else has developed life.

If the reading comes back as confirmed it makes it likely that it's a lot more common than we could imagine.

Oh, I'm hopeful, it's just we've been here before and this is just new and purdy since we have new toys to play with. I'm kinda bullish in that space is big place with many things we just don't understand, so being alone is just that minute a possibility that something has to be out there as more likely. Sentient, unsure, as many things need to occur for such transit, tech and "look at those primate humans" things for actual contact points, but life, sure.
