I don't disagree but it doesn't make it right still. Trump is really unhelpful too. His conduct is a long way below what it should be as a leader. He speaks in the rhetoric of new media with zero interest in diplomacy or nuance. US political conduct has regressed to a point where it's just above primates throwing shit at each other and it hasn't been of any benefit to their people.

I suggest that when you do look into everything he has said, it will become very apparent why he was a target.

His whole schtick was to inflame and create controversy so he could make a buck.

A dangerous approach in a country that still thinks they're living in the wild wild west.

I get that POV because in some primal way it seems reasonable but he's still a human being who has people left behind and had a long life ahead of him.

The modern media landscape demands these kind of extreme voices because only the loudest and most extreme can cut through all the noise. He will be replaced within hours with someone just as or if not more controversial.

Accepted code of conduct doesnt win elections anymore. I must admit, i wasn't fully against trump when he was voted in. But since then, he has defunded health services, secured fat contracts for his cronies, taken multiple golf holidays, shilled his own fake crypto, destroyed global trade relations and just focused on fanning the culture war. Add that to sending the national guard to occupy cities.
And his cult still follows him.

I'm no democrat fan either, but this current reign actually makes his own 2016-2020 seem benevolent

I have no allegiance to either side and have no answers. The older I get the more I realise that left and right is a distraction and the governments that we elect are pretty much chosen for us. The lines between them are pretty blurred and they act for a few at the top no matter which party it is.

Trump is probably just a falling empire's bad cop. Doing shit that they want done and his boorish conduct is seen as a benefit not a problem. He looks like he was a Trojan horse for the tech bros to get JD Vance in anyway.

I think you just have to do the best for yourself and try to be a good person and try not to get caught up in the media circus.

Which I can't do myself. I consume it and I'm no better off for it.

If in a day or two they find the shooter and they are unfortunately killed during the arrest, or had already committed suicide, but they have left behind a manifesto full of trans ideology, I'm going to be pretty sceptical. Just like if the finding is anything to the contrary people on the right will struggle to accept it.

It's times like this that we really need an accountable media to scrutinise the narratives put forward by political entities with their own agendas.

While you're right jwikked, I find it tough to find sympathy for someone who said this after a school shooting in 2023. You reap what you sow. Especially when you use it to profiteer from peoples suffering and make money grifting.

His point is that those deaths shouldn’t lead to a change in the gun laws in America. He doesn’t say that those deaths were okay, just that the steps needed to prevent gun deaths aren’t worth the outcome.

USA. Deaths pre 100 000 people, = 12 ( 2023 ) Australia concerned that its increasing to 5 in 2025.
USA is 12 deaths per billion km, Australia 3.1 per billion km. Australia does not have speed limits significantly lower than the USA.

Amazingly in the usa , gunshot deaths are almost the same as vehicle accident deaths, 12 per 100 000 people.
So imagine 600 people dying from gunshots in Melbourne , and that's their national rate.

Maybe they keep their car laws lack lustre, so they don't make their gunshot stats look even worse.

However they do it they need to change gun laws. Like cars need a licence they need to at least make it a lot more difficult to obtain them without checks and balances.

Most people need a car for transport, I can't think of many people outside farmers and hunters that need a gun and especially a semi automatic military weapon. The right to bear arms was from another time. It's in the constitution but it's a relic.

Assassinations and conspiracy theories have gone hand in hand a lot longer than the internet has been around.

The most sensible explanation is that it's a crazy lone wolf, regardless of their political affiliation.

But are you telling me that you'd be shocked if it turned out to be a false flag, Israel, Russia, China, Iran or North Korea trying to create more civil unrest.

The guy didn't have the sort of security a political leader does, but he had similar weight in the culture wars. Nobody on either side of the aisle benefit from his death, but people with a vested interest in American disunity do.

Also, there are other places you can read about geopolitical shenanigans from the past... they're called books and sometimes when you read enough of them you start seeing potential parallels between current events and events from the past. If you read even more of them, you don't even need to have podcasters tell you what to think, it's crazy.
