I'm more of the thought since I did a thesis on Russia and China that we kinda need to split those two up the hard way for the species to progress, as that seems to be core "I have things to go boom with" and "I have no scruples so let sex" place.

So of course given we're under thus nuke v nuke situation for a few decades now, since we didn't have the previous brains to go "let's just leave it at 2" and everyone jumped at the same time, we're now at the point where the new are going rando directions to leave us with the bomb of a junked planet in the end, so of course some will just go "I am comfy" and engineer their comfort.

Not even a western cabal, just cabals in general.
