We did go to the pictures last night and saw a film that did not contain Gerard Depardieu. That has only recently become possible again.

Had to laugh the other week channel surfing and started watching an Asterix movie and there he is as Obelix, great casting IMO.

I thought Paris was pretty rubbish. Is that a "dumb" thing to say?

I've been there and it blows big time. Dirty, smelly and full of frenchies.
However airheaded bimbos and metrosexuals like it..

Expensive yes, rubbish no. Up there as one of my favourite cities of those I have visited. And the people aren't even as rude as I was promised they would be.

I was going to mention expensive because %^&* you have to be careful. The same behaviours needed as going to the footy, where possible have your own food/drink with you. Avoid the cafes, use supermarkets. As for the rudeness thing people were friendly to us all over France.
Oddly London was the place I hit all the expensive bumpers in the pinball game of life and as a consequence that's the city I don't like. But that's because I was an o/s travel virgin (bar an overnight stop in Singapore) when we lobbed in there back in the 80s. Nothing dramatic or the better travelled Mrs Powerstufff would've clipped my ears* but expensive street food and the like.

* as she did later in Paris, soundly, when I spent the equivalent of $32 on a plastic bird with wind-up flapping wings that flew about 20m. Partly a stuff-up in my part with currency conversion while negotiating with the street vendor. Partly childish delight. It still gets brought up.

My brother and his girlfriend have recently been in American and have travelled across a fair bit of Europe in the past few weeks. They were disappointed with France.

Provided you don't go there with a middle-aged woman's mindset of it being the most romantic city in the world, it's as interesting as any other big city.

I'm not saying that it is objectively rubbish, just that I personally didn't like it when I was there.

I was sick half the time and the weather was pretty trashy, so looking back on it I like it a lot more, but I didn't enjoy my stay there that much at all. The whole place was just a bit overpriced and unfriendly for me. I did quite like the art galleries and a some of the sights were awesome, but I just didn't feel comfortable being there at the time. My point being that people have different experiences.

Powerstuff I never saw Versailles, we probably spent majority of the time in the hotel room as we were sick and/or pissed off a lot of the time. We saw the Louvre, the main gallery for french paintings - where the women look like women, unlike the greek paintings of the Louvre where the men look like women, and the women look like ugly men - and did walking tours along the right bank, and montmarte. We also did a chocolate tour which was pretty fun, and probably the best thing we did there. I wouldn't stay there again though, I just think there are nicer places in the world. Some people absolutely love Paris though.

It's a fun city and while I've only spent about 5 days there (nice weather) I think that many of us have left there further up the scale of "dirty, perverted son of a bitch-ness" than when we arrived.
Wandered the Sex Museum with Mrs Powerstufff which was an odd experience as I was allowed to look at whatever I wanted without being told off (perhaps she missed the Alabama Hotpocket display). Yet I get tutted at whenever I watch Game of Thrones, as Mrs P invariably walks in when **** are showing.

Yep. My first time to Europe i hit London for a week coming off a week in Paris. Ouch!

Out of curiousity how long have you been a Tottenham fan for? So many people I know jumped onto that bandwagon over the past couple of years. You must be a little annoyed at having those fairweathers.
