Yes, I've always wanted to go to the Rock in the middle of summer...not

That was the idea. There was almost no one there and the weather was great. Spent heaps of time in the pool and the cabins we stayed in were dirt cheap and air conditioned. In fact the whole drive up there, it was raining and quite cool. Then we got a few days of around 36, it only started getting 40+ when we left. So it worked out perfectly.

My mate ran the whole Uluru track (10km or so), we went at 6 in the morning so it was still cool till about 11am, and by that time were out of there.

Oh and for word play and puns created during the trip...Ormiston Gorge was...'Gorgeous.' and then there was Ayers Wok noodle bar at Yulara just outside of Uluru. Their food was shit, but their name is great.

Lucky, could have easily been 45 the whole trip. When I went up there back in the 80's, it was April and once we got near Coober Pedy it was 38 at 11 am. Always remember that as the night before it was the coldest night I ever experienced near Woomera, still freezing at 6am when we hit the road in jumpers and coats, then 2 hours later no shirt on. Deserts are wonderful places

Coober was probably the hottest place. On the way back it was around 45, enourmous dust devils were everywhere. It was quite a site, one crossed between the two cars in the convoy, crossing the road and tearing up bushes and things and throwing them everywhere.

I'm sure they can fit a few more snags on that barbie.

As for eating road kill ...........

We actually ate most of them for breakfast the next day ;)

Every time Port sign a new sponsor, I worry about how they know so much about stuff I'm already paying for.

I've become a bit hooked on this song the last few days. It shows a great song is a great song in any language and a great big band does it justice. The Boss learnt Portuguese phonetically to sign the song.

It was sung by the Brasilian father of rock n roll Raul Seixas in the 1970's when Brasil had a military government. Translated its about "Long live the Alternative Society" - One line is Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the law. Love is the law, love under will - It was part of the Thelema /Thelemic society. The military though the movement was subversive so they jailed Seixas and his colleagues. After a couple of years in jail he exiled himself to the USA but poor health, had diabetes, alcohol and drugs saw him die of a heart attack at 44.

And after the good news of signing a big name sponsor, it lifts my mood even further.

I'm gonna go ahead and say it.

**** Bruce Springsteen and his yankee shit.

**** him all the way to hell.

What about his Brasilian shit?

**** that shit too.

Disclaimer. I own "The wild, the innocent and the E Street Shuffle" and it's a great rock and roll album. That Born in the USA shit can go suck it's own dick.
