Going to be bloody exciting to watch over the next few years.

Looks the goods. I feel that we'll being coming back to earth pretty quickly due to the Saffies having a far better batting line up than ours but for the moment I will just enjoy how deplorable the poms have been - I don't foresee many of them on top of double decker buses in the coming weeks unless public lynching is back in vogue in the Old Dart.

This summer was the NO MAS summer for England.

When Roberto Duran beat Sugar Ray Leonard in mid 1980 for the WBC Welterweight title and took his record to 72-1 he partied hard. Duran had been a professional from the age of 17 and was 29. He climbed to the mountain top. Duran became a national hero in Panama.

But Sugar Ray who had won the Olympic gold medal in 1976 and turned professional a few months later at 20, was 24-0 going into the fight with Duran and was the world champ and had defended his title once.

Sugar Ray was pissed off he lost a unanimous points decision and demanded a rematch. His people drove up the purse and at $10mil back in 1980 that was to big to say no. Duran should have waited a year but the push from Leonard's camp and the hype and $$$ said no the rematch would happen by the end of 1980. In the famous rematch in the 8th round Duran said NO MAS - no more - he quit. Basically he wasn't ready to defend his title and hadn't prepared properly because he was celebrating his victory too long.

The Poms were like Duran after the Perth Test. They didn't want any more but unlike Duran they had to stick around. They had celebrated their Ashes victory and weren't really ready for the title defence. The Aussies were like Leonard the brooding defeated champ that wanted an opportunity for quick revenge - and got it.

ESPN's 30 for 30 doco series had a great doco called No Mas last October about the whole build up and fall out of both fights in 1980.

Just got home from the 20/20 and I would like to make a couple of points,

1. England are the most heartless cricket side I have ever seen.
2. Muirhead will go good.
3. ANZ Stadium is worse than footy park was. I've watched Aussie Rules, Rugby, Rugby League, International (and domestic) cricket and went to the AC/DC concert there. What a ****ing hole. It has no redeeming qualities whatsoever.
4. Buses roolz.

Watched the Real Mary Poppins doco on ABC tonight. I had no idea the author Pamela Travers was an Australian - grew up in Queensland and Mr Banks was based on her Aussie dad - and her stories were based on her Australian childhood and playing and dreaming in the bush. She went to Uk and Ireland in 1924 when she was 25. She hid her Australian background from people until into her 70's, so you wont see anything about Oz in The Saving Mr Banks movie. ......
Haven't seen the movie but from the previews I have seen there are flashbacks to her childhood that are set in Oz.

Was watching the same doco last night but the power went out just after 1900 and didn't come back on until the wee small hours. SA Power Networks' "Current Interruptions" site is rubbish.

It's an awful stadium in a lifeless location and the design already looks dated and sterile. It's Sydney's Football Park.

.... Carn Seahawks! ...
Looking good at the time of this post, but a way to go yet. Quarterback passing accuracy is phenomenal. Hard to get used to the way the pass receivers get monstered while catching the ball. One Seattle guy early in the game leapt into the air to mark the ball then got hit in mid air and knocked 2-3 yards back - yet it was legal.

Much how I felt when James Gandolfini went.

Yeah I'd have to go back to that one too. But this one has gutted me a bit more.

Was lucky enough to see Hoffman live in Death of a Salesman in 2012. Incredible.

Malcolm Smith makes an easy interception of Peyton Manning's pass and runs unimpeded for a touchdown. I have no idea why the intended recipient didn't even try to take the pass. For Smith he could only dream of such a moment. For an AFL equivalent I'd have to go for Heath Shaw's spoil of Nick Reiwoldt's attempt to goal in the GF a few years ago.

Seattle were up 22-0 and an 87 yard return on the punt sees them go 29-0 17 seconds into the 2nd half. If Denver wins from here Manning's legend will be sealed and they will make a movie about it.
