Your getting rude now Dingle, the bouncers are looking sideways at ya. One of them works part time at the Mars BarKnob slayer?

Holy shit you just blew my mind. Of course it ******* is. I love Alien^3 but clearly haven't watched it in a long time.
To each their own, but love Alien 3? Please explain.
I am glad you asked!
To begin with, I'm an inveterate contrarian. So I tend to find a way to like things that most people hate. But the defence of Alien 3 is basically this: it says a big fat **** you to everybody. And that's awesome.
Oh, you spent two and a half hours getting emotionally invested in the plight of Hicks and Newt in Aliens? LOL we're going to kill them both off during the opening titles, how d'ya like them apples?
Oh, you loved the big guns and colourful wisecracking characters in Aliens? LOL we're going to put this movie on a planet with no guns populated by toneless bald middle aged criminals who all look like AIDS patients. Haha!
Alien 3 is one of the more subversive mainstream sci-fi movies Hollywood ever green-lighted. And it's also completely and utterly gorgeous even allowing for some dated CGI.
But it's not even an intentional **** you... have you seen/read some of the original concepts and drafts? This is pretty much the slops. It was the last idea presented after the other better ideas weren't feasible for whatever reasons.

... I'm not knocking other fighting sports. I'm just a traditionalist. I still love my good old boxing.
Yes I have and none of that changes the fact that the final product is a great **** you.
I also quite like Alien Resurrection for diametrically opposite reasons.

It was the last idea presented after the other better ideas weren't feasible for whatever reasons. I love things other people hate as well, for instance, 80s and 80s style action movies, simple 3 chord rock n roll, Port Adelaide, but come on, Alien 3, in it's own right, was an abortion of what it could've/should've been.
Also, dated CGI is an understatement. I've seen Sega graphics that could rival it.
The bold part I agree with.
OK, let's hear them while we are on topic. I hate it out of principle that Michael Wincott was killed off far too early. Criminally underused actor.
Even David Fincher disowned it - and given Panic Room, that's saying something.
Fincher made Benjamin Button, too. That guy is patchy at best.
The Game was panned, but I quite liked it and own it on DVD.
Fight Club is the equivalent of Woewodin's Brownlow. A glorious albatross holding him to such impeccable standards that are impossible to replicate.
True about that.
But generally I just like it because of the actors in it, the wonderfully creative gore, and the cheesy Joss Whedon-honed dialogue. It's a wonderful B-grade cast: Dan Hedaya, Ron Perlman, Brad Dourif, Dominique Pinon, J.E. Freeman, Leland Orser, and yes Michael Wincott. Basically a whole bunch of fascinatingly ugly faces and Jean-Pierre Jeunet pushing his wide-angle lenses right up into them.
Boxing is very skillful in its purist form. Thats why it remains an Olympic sport. For young lads, its a way to try and get through that guard, score some points. Its a way for young lads to pent some frustration, and do it legally. As i said i have no objection to the fight sports we have, i just dont think they really look after our sportsman. Fighting under controlled conditions is a big thing nowdays with our boys. It worries me with the ungloved and go for it blood fighting we have. It's like takeaway food for viewers, but not pure fighting and point scoring.Boxing to me, is kinda like, other ball sports compared to AFL. Physically restrictive. You can only strike, only using your fists. Like soccer, you can only use you feet. Basketball, you can only use your hands. AFL to me, is comparable to MMA, it allows a physical freedom of movement to accomplish the goals that other sports/disciplines do not, and personally its a great appeal.
Wasn't it another abortion of an original Alien 3 concept?
