Why do the SANFL insist on holding finals at AAMI?

They want to keep the $$$.

Anyway playing all finals at neutral venues has been that way since 1974. No free Adelaide Oval means Footy Park has to be used.

Watching Landline and hand pollination of vanilla bean flowers is better than bee pollination. Second most expensive crop after saffron. Saffron sells for $50,000 a ton IIRC.

Im going to see Madagascar 3 today with the kids (im not sure whos more excited )

But that's just it, REH.

The attendance for the double-headers has been abysmal. Even working skeleton staff they can't be close to breaking even.

Why not take the finals back to the suburbs. A second semi at the Parade would draw just as well, if not better, than the AAMI DH.

On another note, has anyone ever had a little prang and then not wanted to drive anywhere? Had one last week and really just don't like driving atm

You just need to steal your cars, not buy them. That way you don't care if you prang them.

Its the Port Adelaide way.

I bet the four clubs concerned are not happy about the massive cheque they have to write out to the SANFL to pay for their poor attendances either.

How many people are going to travel to Elizabeth or Norlunga for a final? Of course the parade will be well attended all those Norwood supporters who don't travel accross to the west will rock up.

Why would they write cheques? The SANFL like AFL control all finals revenue. Or did I miss the sarcasm?

They dont really have any other choice at the moment. Adelaide Oval is full of bull dozers. Where else are they gonna play them?

You cant play finals this week at Norwood, not with Norwood playing.

Its just a disaster in terms of the amount of people that want to go and watch finals. Pretty pathetic when most of these same clowns would be the ones digging in at how crap Ports crowds are.

They'd get at least 5000 at Lizbef, 7000 at the Parade.

They'll barely get 8000 at HQ today.

How does the SANFL finals work with playing the league games at AAMI?

I think what they do in the WAFL makes pretty good sense. Home final goes to the higher placed league side and the reserves and colts both play beforehand as per a regular season game. Usually get reasonable crowds - better than the ones where they played both the league (1st and 2nd semi) finals at Subiaco as a double header and it has a more club based "grassroots" feel to it befitting the occasion rather than playing what is supposed to be the showcase games of the season in an empty cavernous stadium where there is no atmosphere. Having the GF at Subiaco works well, usually crowds of 20k+ which could only be accomodated there and the feel at the ground is terrific - when Andrew Krakouer kicked the winning goal for Swan Districts in 2010 in the last minute, the place went as crazy as if it were an Eagle or Docker final.

Since 1974 all SANFL A grade finals games have been played at a neutral venue ie Football Park and Adelaide Oval. I remember 1973 the elimination final - the first year of a final 5, Port played Norwood at Norwood oval, Port finished 4th but lost to Norwood.

For many years in the 90's and 00's the first three weeks were at Adelaide Oval, but a few years ago all finals games were switched to Footy Park.

Apart from GF's, which are all played at Footy Park, I don't know what the rules are for reserves and u/18 finals.

A qualifying home final for Norwood would be great at the Parade.

Sure would if everybody got home finals. Playing one at the Parade in the current climate would be an unfair advantage.

I think home ground finals makes more sense given the size of the crowds and the general location of the supporter bases.

It also rewards the higher placed team properly.

As I said, if it ends up that way then the SANFL is heading to amateur league status - as my brother inlaw has been banging on about the last few months.

How do you mean REH? It works for the AFL. It seems like the crowds would be better overall.

Obviously the GF stays at AAMI or AO but it seems to make sense to reward the home team a bit more.

Its a sign of the slide down the totem pole. The SANFL bosses can't keep all the revenue. The way it works at AFL is that the AFL keep the ticket revenue - pay ticketek/ticket master their fee - pay the stadium a rental fee and the stadium owners keep all the other revenue streams.

So if the finals move, the SANFL will get the ticket revenue, they will have to pay a rental fee, the councils will demand one, but the SANFL will not get access to all the revenue streams like footy park. The clubs will which is good for them but a huge advantage to Norwood because they are so close to the CBD. Would Centrals like for Norwood to get such a free kick?? This is what happens for non GF's in the amateur league.

I have no idea what the SANFL got for playing non GF finals at AO from the SACA, but the clubs got none of the revenue.

The SANFL clubs should demand finals are played at the new AO, but I'm not sure if the SMA will let them.
