When I see a sheila wearing a burqa I genuinely feel sorry for her as due to her being a female she has to wear some silly (but sun smart) thing over her face, I see it more of a sexist topic than religious.

Somebody come and get me when there is a robbery or similar actually committed by a Muslim woman wearing a face covering in Australia.
Which is like saying that no one has robbed a bank in a pink bike helmet so let's be fine with pink bike helmets in banks.

Nobody wants to ban the burqa because they are in any genuine fear of security issues. It's simple racism.
I want to ban the burqa because I view every offense to religious sensibilities as a noble act in and of itself. I cannot (and don't feel the need to) justify it in any other way.

All you actually need is an example of a crime where someone has concealed their face to avoid being caught. There's heaps of those.

Unless you think Muslim women are of a higher moral standard than everyone else?
And yet we don't see any of these crimes committed in Australia by Muslim women wearing burqas.

It doesn't happen.

It's only even being discussed at all because paranoid, racist idiots think that an absolutely ****** political situation in the middle east has any relevance at all to Muslim people in Australia.

Why are there no AFL games played on Good Friday?
What book are jurors and witnesses required to swear on in courts?
Why are there prays read at the opening of State and Federal Parliaments?
What religion must our head of state be?
What happens to our head of state if they marry a Catholic?

Personally I would like to ban the beard. They conceal people's faces too much and I think it's a security risk. I'd also like to ban glasses. People who wear glasses have something to hide, just look at Clark Kent. The entire headquarters of The Daily Planet had no idea he was Superman! Too risky.

And don't get me started on face paint!

If it's just an atheist thing then I guess that's your prerogative, but atheism is stupid.

Religion doesn't make people evil. Evil people are evil. Good people are good. People twist their scriptures of choice to justify the behavior they were going to engage in anyway.

Yeah looks the way I see 'religion being forced' is if the state actually makes it mandatory. Never once have I felt like I had to be religious growing up in this country.

Religious elements in society =/= religion being forced on Australians. 18 years here and I've never once been persecuted for being non-religious.

The spectrum of good and evil is quite clearly not black and white. People aren't inherently good or evil. People may do evil things or good things, and while our actions define us, it doesn't make us evil people.

Hitler, for example, is known to be evil. But from his point of view he was only ever doing good things for a good cause.

You didn't answer the question or address the logic.

Airports and other places of high security have been dealing with the Naqib issue for a long ass time with no issues or complaints but for some reason our parliament is now an issue. Has anyone wearing one even turned up to watch parliament before the buffoons today?

Right. Cool.
What wharfie said, but it's as simple as this: if you live in a country where religious institutions have tax breaks unavailable to other institutions, you live in a country which forces religion on you.
I think we have different definitions of 'force'.
