Just because assholes use religion to justify their bullshit doesn't make the religion the problem. The asshole is the problem.
Just because assholes are against something, it doesn't mean everyone that is is an asshole, and it doesn't mean that they're 100% wrong.

And yet the vast, vast majority of religious people are regular people, peacefully going about their lives doing good.
Agreed. But you cannot extrapolate from that that religion is harmless.

Chicken and egg, assholes created religion too, remember.

It's not chicken and egg at all.

Religion doesn't make a good person an asshole. If it did, assholes wouldn't be in the tiny minority in all religions.

People will read their book and interpret it to fit their worldview. Always have and always will.

Or be told how to interpret it.

I have direct personal experience that it can and does. Also, it obviously can and does.

If it did, assholes wouldn't be in the tiny minority in all religions.
That doesn't follow at all.

Kinda makes it sound all a bit pointless, doesn't it?

The first time drinking got the better of me was after a Beam/Black Sambuca double act. I'd also just consumed the lion's share of a pepperoni pizza, which must've been well done because I remember the pepperoni being very sharp on the way back up.

To this day I give licorice a wide berth.

Mine was unlabelled bottles of Port from mum's cellar, jee wizz it was hard getting that stuff down it didn't stay down all that long either.

*note to 13 year old drinkers of cheap port... don't wear a white t-shirt in the process
Dude !

Ran inside after an epic "chasey" session during school holidays and Dad had a glass of Port on his bar whilst listening to music. Only it wasn't a normal Port glass.... It was a rather large glass that you'd normally have soft drink in.

I ran inside and skulled the whole thing thinking it was coke.

I would've been 10. Oh boy.

There is a story in my bible about a chinese girl who met and fell in love with a japanese boy. Both their families were against it for cultural and religious reasons. They had nothing to fear for either of those reasons though, the girl and boy were pure evil by birth despite their affluent and well protected lives. They were like an asian mickey and mallory. They went crazy killing people and creating mayhem wherever they went. Not in the name of religion but in the name of non religion. In fact in this story Mallory had a baby and much to Mickeys shock it was black.

Just proves two wongs don't make a white.

I first got drunk as a two year old with croup and an irresponsible tired babysitting father with a bottle of whiskey.

I still drink it.

Jumbo's first ever drunken experience was via a bottle of brandavino - never touched that horrid stuff ever again
Oh **** mine too got so pissed at Harold and Sue Wilsons place I chundered on the Magpie fence banners. Spent most of the Saturday and Sunday hosing them off with worst hangover in human history. I haven't been able to look at a Brandivino bottle since then without feeling ill. I was about 17 at the time and I'm nearly 50 now.
