All talk, no action from the mad monk, as per usual.
What do you really want him to do?
Smack Putin in the mouth or something. Then Russia will have an excuse to crush us all. Putin knows he is untouchable and is just waiting for someone to slip up so he can invade other European countries with an excuse this time.

I want him to stop bullshitting that the failed Jesuit is goin' to get all tough with the Bolshevik when he, the fire fightin', budgie smugglin' hero, has no f'n intention of ever doing so.

He certainly gave Putin something to think about regarding MH17 to be fair.

I actually just realised Tony is the guy who we send to international conferences. Man that could not possibly be a good thing.

Most times it's Julie Bishop, which is just about the best option from this government (Malcolm Turnbull has the brains for it but wouldn't be trusted by the extremists to represent their message diplomatically).

A Julie Bishop death stare would have more impact on Putin than Tone's handbags at ten paces bullshit.

Turnbull lost me when he followed up his derp-to-the-node crusade with going all Elliott Ness on people who prefer to download Gilmore Girls for free.

What I have to be fair to Tony, why? When Tony's raison d'être is fairness then I'll consider fairness in relation to him. Next you'll be bringing up the Howard, we should all be polite to each other while we f u up the arse line.
Tony certainly gave the Japanese a lot to think about when he welcomed the Prime Minister Shinzo Abe to our parliament and said Japanese military personnel demonstrated “courage” and “patriotism of a very high order” during World War II. Neglecting the complete lack of common decency and fairness in regards to their treatment of our of POWs.

FTTN ... IMO that was the rest of the party demanding they have something, anything other than Labor's FTTH. Turnbull is no IT numpty but he was told to create a FrankenNBN. I suspect the extremists like the irony of using a field he knows well to keep him unpopular.

On downloads, yes the TTP is scary - giving up national sovereignty to foreign commercial interests. Once we do that, even if we have a good reason for metadata surveillance (chasing terrorists and wannabes), "Stuff" will inevitably get to those same commercial interests. People downloading movies are simply easier to catch - like Abetz and Brandis they mostly don't know what a VPN is - Turnbull does. Again, doesn't start with Turnbull but his ministry will probably have to monitor ISP compliance to others' cocked up policy objectives.

This is the guy who successfully defended the author of Spycatcher back in the 80s in Australian courts when the UK government was seriously after him, and who also did some very questionable things to keep Packer from eating Fairfax in the 90s (a worthy goal).

I just think he's to close to the middle of politics to beat anyone in an election ... other than uber-vanilla idiot Shorten :(

Can you honestly debate that the Japanese soldiers didn't show courage or patriotism? Just as ours did, give it a rest. For the record, a relative of mine was beheaded by the Japanese as a POW. Every side committed atrocities, no one should take a moral high ground in that entire conflict of absolute butchery. Remember we fought on the same side as the guys who dropped the bomb. It goes both ways.

Regardless, politicians are damned if they do and damned if they don't. I personally thought he has shown a fair bit of spine and has regularly criticized and has further backed up his criticism of Putin s handling over MH17. Though as we all noted, the whole shirt front thing is shitful.

Lastly, who even brings up this morbidity on remembrance day?

Turnbull for some reason has a reputation of being a bit more moderate but I don't see that at all. He might not be as alarmingly conservative as Bernardi or Joyce but he's at least at the same level as guys like Hockey, Abbott and Pyne.

He's a flat-rate-taxer which is unusual here in Oz (and a bit awkward to defend from his wealth bracket!) but socially he supports many things his adopted Catholic church (and a fair % his party) oppose vehemently. Overall, I wouldn't put him in the same bracket as any of those guys.

Libertarians are alarming in a whole different way.
