Neglecting the complete lack of common decency and fairness in regards to their treatment of our of POWs.

On downloads, yes the TTP is scary - giving up national sovereignty to foreign commercial interests. Once we do that, even if we have a good reason for metadata surveillance (chasing terrorists and wannabes), "Stuff" will inevitably get to those same commercial interests. People downloading movies are simply easier to catch - like Abetz and Brandis they mostly don't know what a VPN is - Turnbull does. Can you honestly debate that the Japanese soldiers didn't show courage or patriotism? Just as ours did, give it a rest. For the record, a relative of mine was beheaded by the Japanese as a POW. Every side committed atrocities, no one should take a moral high ground in that entire conflict of absolute butchery. Remember we fought on the same side as the guys who dropped the bomb. It goes both ways.

Turnbull for some reason has a reputation of being a bit more moderate but I don't see that at all. He might not be as alarmingly conservative as Bernardi or Joyce but he's at least at the same level as guys like Hockey, Abbott and Pyne.

He's a flat-rate-taxer which is unusual here in Oz (and a bit awkward to defend from his wealth bracket!) but socially he supports many things his adopted Catholic church (and a fair % his party) oppose vehemently. Overall, I wouldn't put him in the same bracket as any of those guys.
