I heard about it this morning, though `oh, well shit happens I guess', and now its some big drama?

He wasn't after the contents of the breakfast time till though was he? Armed robbers generally demand shit and leave as promptly as possible.

On the outrageous siege situation - there is just not any justification for the situation. No justification whatsoever for what has been inflicted on these innocent people.
No matter what the perpetrator thinks he is achieving for any supposed cause, he is just achieving the exact opposite x 10 folds or more.
