EPL fans, why the derision of teams, ala Liverpool, that haven't won league title for a long time, but have won a Champions cup relatively recently? Wouldn't a champions league be more prestigious?

Probably because it relates directly to domestic rivals rather than European which involves far less English teams, alas less relevant as a dig.

Also, most supporters who will have a dig at Liverpool specifically for this have had their team win the league multiple times during Liverpool's domestic title drought, while Chelsea and United have also won the Champions League themselves in that time too.

For the rest, it's simply taking the piss out of Liverpool because they were once the dominant side and a hated team/city/supporter base and it's their chance to get back, I guess.

It's because Liverpool fans always insist this player and that player of their's is world class (Didi Hamann was my favourite, was he f**k).

All the while yet to win a title in the premier league era and deriding everyone else along the way.

Reminded me of Collingwood fans' ill-gotten arrogance off the back of 1 flag since 1958 prior to finally putting up in 2010.

For posters of a club that owes a great deal of its sole success in the big league to the idiocy of St kilda supporters, I think it is an inconsistent attitude to deride others for being overly arrogant under achievers, whilst continuing to beat our drum about being the most successful football club in our code in the country.

This makes about as much sense as those who say "um we were a basketcase a few years ago" whenever someone criticises Melbourne, who've had every free kick imaginable and actively tanked in a bid to leave their self-inflicted smoking hole in the ground.
