Ride > MoP, noobs.

I like the production on Justice. The undersold bass doesn't really hurt it and too big a deal is made about it.
Well when it comes to live act, Iron maiden shits all over Metallica and mega.

Everyone everywhere loves the music they listened to as teenagers.

...

Hmm, not so much. I'm sick of just about all of it and frown at many of my early purchases.

And I've never seen a crowd get into it so much at a Big Day Out (which surprised me considering they didn't do much on stage).

All the way to the back there were moshpits, it was insane.

Epic. That was one of my most memorable BDOs

Again, I like RATM, I just don't think they have the body of work that puts them up in the super group/sell out a stadium type stratosphere. Bands that I would have way higher than them (and this does not reflect my own preferences) which have a similar body of work are The Jimi Hendrix Experience, Nirvana and even Oasis. I just don't think RATM is at that level of a) popularity and b) pop culture consciousness.

Must have got sin bind for this quote.

Was this the fist time they came, I remember mark of Cain playing before them , ****ing insane.

Screaming Trees' Sweet Oblivion was the best grunge album and Faith No More's Angel Dust was the best album of the 90s. Faith No More's gig at Thebby in 92 or 93 was the greatest performance I will ever see - best band in the world at the time absolutely nailing it. :)

I reckon my original post in this whole Nirvana thing was that I don't understand the stigma about Nirvana. Granted when they first came out I was intrigued, but then that happens when a different type sound comes out. Interesting chord arrangement, reminiscent of some of Neil Young's stuff, coupled with retro punk vocals...sounded pleasant at the time. But over the decades it seems that anyone who is 'cool' likes Nirvana...as in that Rolling Stones top 100 guitarists link I posted before. "Hey, everyone thinks Cobain is cool, we'll throw him in at no.12". My son, who is a fan of Nirvana music told me of this girl he knows who was wearing a Nirvana t-shirt. He asked her if she knew who the lead singer was, "I don't know" she said, "But I've heard some of their songs once." A few weeks he saw her again,"OMG, I found out Nirvana's lead singer killed himself" she said. My son said liking Nirvana is hipster now. I think it always was.

For a lot of gen x, 90's kids Nirvana will always matter, their music for many summed up the feelings of the generation, the pointlessness and casualness was the point. For those looking for retro cool, it won't ever be the same. Same with the Stones and Led Zepellin etc.

Stones and Led Zeppelin

Two bands I don't particularly care for, I'm soured on Zep due to their shoddy song stealing tactics I must admit.

Kurt was no genius but he wrote some damn good straight to the point songs... deal with it

My point was those who lived in their time are those who appreciate them best. The quality of their music or otherwise is not the point, it was the grasping of the zeitgeist.

I'm glad I only read this latest music conversation just now, lest I'd have flooded it with my very anal views on certain bands/styles.

Anyway, for all you RATM fans you should check out Zac De La Rocha's previous late-80's/early 90's bands Hard Stance (guitarist), and Inside Out (vocalist). The Inside Out 7" in particular was a ****ing gnarly record. Burning Fight was such a "wind up the car windows and turn this up as loud as possible" song.

I was just airing my view on them you just brought them to mind, you can grasp whatever you like
