Doolittle is one of my favourite albums of all time.

Come at me finbarr

I've seen the Pixies twice.

2007 at the V Festival on the Gold Coast and then at Hordern Pavilion in Sydney when they did the Doolittle Tour.

****ing amazing band. Live is better than albums as all good bands should be.

V Festival side show at Thebby with New York Dolls, Phoenix and Jarvis Cocker. Then the Doolittle show at Thebby. ****ing ace. Got the live CD of the Thebby show too. Best gig I've been too.

I've swapped to The Stooges - Fun House now. I'm sure finbarr would approve.

I'm feeling too sick to get into an argument about how extremely overrated the Pixies are.

'Funhouse' however is one of THE undisputed great albums.

Were you a fan of the 60's garage punk bands featured on all those great Nuggets and Pebbles compilations?

From Waco, Texas, The Twilighters.

How about this 1966 gem from Auckland, New Zealand - The Bluestars.

^Those songs gave me an ear erection. Hadn't heard them before. Am now tracking down some of those compilations.

I think all the Pebbles compilations have been re-issued on CD. Two Nuggets box sets are still available. Most of the bands only released one or two singles and then vanished, hence you'll only find their music on compilations.

This song contains one of the great guitar solo's (to my mind) -

The Banshees -

finbarr - cheers for that. I'll try and track some of those CD's down. It's amazing how many bands back then were on a good thing, but for one reason or another couldn't keep it together.

Don't know where else to put this but I've been told our new sponsor has committed and its at the contract stages now

Sounds like it will be the most substantial one we've had in a while

Hope it's Cavpower, I've been banging on about them for ages

Free - Fire and Water. Great album from the 70s I think but not long after the guitarist OD'd and they all went onto other things.

These guys aren't old but only released the one EP. 5 songs.

dat 2:40 onward

Paul Rodgers from Free, one of the best rock vocalists went on to lead Bad Company - great rock music from the 70s and they are still performing. Their best music was 'Straight Shooter' - do yourself a favour and listen to it.
