Watching old Ads on YouTube and in this STA ad they briefly show the old Red Hen at the start.

I used to love Red Hens when I was younger. I remember going on one on their last day in service when I was almost 11 (1996).

Nothing like travelling on a train with the door left wide open to allow air flow.

They were amazing. Nothing quite like being alone in a carriage on a freezing morning/boiling afternoon with the door open and the world racing by.

Swinging out of carriages by the straps...
Poking your head out the window and almost being decapitated by an oncoming train...
Jumping off the train as it pulled into the station and stacking it on the platform...
Pretending to throw someone out of the train while they begged for mercy and hanged on to anything for dear life...
Ducking for cover as a rock missile smashed the window...
Paper tickets and conductors with leather satchels and hole punchers...

Good times...

Last one ran in October, 1996.

There were a couple of "Super Chooks" around. Got a steel and orange to look like the Jumbos.

Felt sorry for those Red Hens. They looked so try-hard. Trains in drag...

That blows more than Dave tuning down to cater for his completely failing vocals... Not that he could ever sing lol but it worked.. one of those bands you can't even imagine with a bona fide lead singer.

Good times...

Keeping all of the paper tickets and reusing them every month to save money for ciggies, yelling "**** this world" at the top of your voice and jumping out of the train and into the water as it crossed the bridge between Ethelton and Port Stations.
