I was going to put some EMG pickups on my guitar until i realised that the pickups cost more than the actual guitar.

Have an sg Gibson. Which is bloody delightful guitar. So easy to play. I put emg pick ups in my Ibanez bass , but then never really played it once I got my fender p-bass , but a few people have been real fans of my Ibanez with the active pick ups. I never really play anymore I basically consider them sentimental and will pass them on to my kids.

Talk about the Gibson SG, was in a cashies store and they had one on sale for $850, i am regretting not putting it on layby and who the hell hocks a gibson?

Nice, i remember seeing one of these at what was Allans Music in Gawler place, cant remember how much it was, still wasn't as expensive as a signature Jimmy Page Les Paul which was $50k.
