Every argument for no gun control in America ..

But then the criminals will still have guns ...

Then law abiding citizens can't protect themselves ..

It's their right in the constitution. ...

A) how many of these people involved with the shootings or general gun crime have access to illegal weapons through black market trade trade? Next to none. If guns are harder to get then they are harder to get by all but very serious organised crime.. Which really have no interest in shooting random people. That's not good for business.

B) has there ever been any evidence of an armed citizen saving lives? ... it would have to be rare.

C) the constitution is just a piece of paper drawn up by people at a certain time and place. Amendments have and do get made as the times change.

The funny thing is if you point any of this stuff out to them they completely ignore it and go around in circles

Not that I disagree in principle, but 3D printers are a thing now. In a few years making guns will be much easier than making moonshine.

A 3D printer capable of making a handgun may be available to nasa or some well off university research centre but to be honest is likely more then 10+ years away from being available in your average house ...

You know the plastic they use in a 3D printer would just shatter with the energy expended by a standard bullet, right? Maybe you could make some sort of peashooter...

It's always funny people spewing the "constitution can't be changed" chestnut, if it wasn't for the first amendment to the constitution than every racist, sexist, misogynist and any other bad words than ends in 'ist they would be sent to prison.

You know you really have a toxic culture when these mass shootings become "just another thing" instead of a national tragedy.

Can you buy one on the market yet?

The first of anything usually appears on the market for a mint , and is not so good or reliable .. Then years later becomes cheap enough or reliable enough to make there way into homes. See DVD players , computers , microwave ovens ...

You know 3D printed guns are already a thing, right? And the principle of 3D printing is not limited to the plastic currently commonly used as the raw material.

He needs to be.

Someone over there needs to slap these gun nuts down and say "enough's enough".

Gun control doesn't even mean a total ban. Just have a system of checks and a delay period between registering and purchase.
Like I said on another thread, and at the risk of having the same argument.
Guns are not the main problem.
Guns are the tool, the outlet, used by a society that promotes and glorifies violence.
Everything from their music to their movies to their tv shows to their video games to their sports to their foreign policy and interactions with other countries and peoples...it's all about violence.

Shit even their kids cartoons are filled with violence guys.

What do you expect is going to happen under such a scenario?

If it wasn't guns, it'd be knives just as easily or any other object that can be used as a weapon to kill someone.

Look at the UK. The regular police on the beat don't even carry side arms. Yet there's a never ending cycle of street gang violence and stabbings galore over there.

We've got gun controls in Australia, but illegal guns are rife. The government doesn't even know how many illegal guns are on the streets now, and their best estimate is a self admitted very conservative one of a quarter of a million.
Legal gun numbers are just as high as they were prior to Port Arthur.

SAPOL is running a gun amnesty for ILLEGAL guns.
NSW Police did a similar thing not long ago as well.

Gun violence is up in Australia, despite gun controls.
You can't control illegal guns. Unless you want to turn in to North Korea were our freedoms of any kind are non existent.

The problem in America is their society.

If guns are easily available here in Australia on the street, despite some of the toughest gun control laws in the world, how hard do you think it'd be to get a gun in America from someone on the street, a country with 300+ million people and bordering Mexico with it's drug cartels that have spilled over in America it self?

Until America gets serious about fixing it's society, they'll keep having these mass shootings.

Here is a good article i read a while ago about not getting too freaked out over 3D printed guns.

http://www.cracked.com/quick-fixes/x-reasons-why-3d-printed-gun-nothing-to-worry-aboutph/
Yeh but police are now actually worried about them.
And not just 3d printed guns, but other home made firearms.

It's a real problem, it just hasn't blown up yet in a massive way all across the country.
It's slowly crept up on Australia, to the point were drive by shootings aren't uncommon anymore.
It will get worse though.

Everyone should join in the bigfooty GD song contest.

The host of the current round is both fair and attractive, and welcoming to new faces.
I have no idea what's going on and I don't want to hang around long enough in the GD section to find out

Just found out that the local supermarket here is selling Four and Twenty pies. Just heated one up, quiet beer, watching the AFL highlights.
I almost feel homesick!!!
