Even more unpopular opinion: They both suck

Boba Fett was a cool mysterious side character in the original trilogy that the fanbase hyped to the point where he became overexposed and boring. Lucas pandering to that shit by making the Fetts such central characters in the prequels was stupid and don't even get me started on the ****ing extended universe. The best thing Disney have ever done in their history is strike that garbage from the record.

How ****ing pathetic was it when ep 7 was announced and people were like "oh man I hope Thrawn is in it"

Nobody cares. It's as interesting as fan fiction

That's early shit who cares. Newer stuff is better from my experience.

Plus all the other stuff like the Old Republic games, is that no longer canon? Idk. They should have selected the best stuff which built up pre-A New Hope.

From the outside looking at the stuff post-Return of the Jedi, yeah, it looks pretty stupid. All of the Solo/Skywalker descendants especially.

Most of the stuff based around the prequels is far, far better written than the prequels themselves and actually fixes the universe. Darth Plagueis builds up the prequels incredibly, and I hear the Dark Lord trilogy (set during the prequels, fleshes out Anakin's fall) are great.

Probably wouldn't need them if the movies weren't so shit.

I hope Shadows is still cannon. I love how the new Battlefront has the SotE music.

The problem is Lucas made up about 7 different levels of cannon to please everybody, rather than say "no", and the fans of said works got overly excited. This led to a seriously convoluted EU where each story tried to take place in the same universe and just ended up a mish mash of crap.

.... This led to a seriously convoluted EU where each story tried to take place in the same universe and just ended up a mish mash of crap.

Plus the 3 Star Wars films that now jointly form the prequel to the original 3 films have largely relied on padded out fight scenes that are 99% reliant on digital special effects. Plot and character development only have to deliver us Darth Vader, Luke, Leia etc as they are when the original film (I refuse to call it part 4) opens. Spectacles of hundreds of spaceships fighting, thousands of clones etc chewing up viewing time. Some months ago I was in a city where I had most of a day to kill between flights, so I went to a cinema and switched my brain to idle while watching 'Age of Ultron'. In substance it was little different.

IMO 1 was excellent, 2 also and a logical and original development. 3 was just payday.
