Fury Road is pretty excellent as well.

It's the best pure action movie in a long, long time.

Having had one of my lungs reinflated in the not-too-distant past I can vouch for the fact Furiosa took that particular moment like a boss.

Is Star Trek worth the watch? Heard some good things about it but it's never really struck me like Star Wars did

Jaw-dropping.

Dr. George, John Seale and editor Margaret Sixel deserve to to be right in it come awards season but you just know they'll probably get snubbed.

Frustrating to hear Miller talk about Justice League last week and how he basically wanted to do a Peter Jackson/LOTR for the local fillum industry.

Then again, there were plenty of dissenting voices here running down that project.

Coz yeah, we need more Australian films playing to empty cinemas...

There is so much Star Trek.

Overall yeah it's great if you're into Sci Fi.

Have a look at the reboot movie released in 2011. If you like Star Wars, it's got the action sequences, pacing and character interaction you'd expect from a Star Wars film, but obviously set in the Star Trek universe. It's everything it should be.

If you like that, grab a season of Next Generation (it's the most palatable series to a newcomer straight off the bat) and have a look. The series is a lot slower and more methodical than the reboot movie though.

Couldn't agree more. The action sequences were just the best of anything I can remember seeing at the cinemas. Consistently all the way through, and given it doesn't have a whole heap of storyline, it's pretty well all action sequences. And they keep you on the edge of your seat for 2 solid hours.

Editing, costume design, everything was perfect. It didn't pretend to be anything more than a badass action movie and it absolutely nailed it.

Mate, I'm in Broken Hill, and after they signed an agreement to film here, they packed up and took off after pre production because there was a drop of rain and the landscape was more baby shit brown than yellow and red with no other tone. They no longer give a **** about revitalising Australia as a big budget production destination. That's a load of crap.

What I don't get is that they landscape barely even resembles the first 2 films anyway, its more a reboot. A reboot no longer set in Australia.

I had someone trying to convince me mad max 2 and 3 were better than the first last night.

Because they were more post apocalyptic.

And I can sort of appreciate that. But no the original is the best by a long way.

Mad Max 3 was the biggest POS, movie i have ever seen, 1 was awesome, 2... the wheels started to fall off but three, jesus bloody christ that was a bad movie.

I found Fury Road to be a touch... Arty? Pretty good but not a "pure action" movie in my definition.

The visual style they went with was pretty in your face, but there were very short and to the point story sequences with very long and brilliant action sequences.
