Sounds good, cheers for the advice I'll definitely start a season once my exams are over plus it's got Patrick Stewart (big fan of him in the X-Men movies) so that should motivate for it even more.

Star Trek - The Next Generation is very dated, I find it hard to watch now. If you want to watch Star Trek the original from the 60s is still daggily good. Of the post 60s versions only Star Trek Enterprise is any good and even then you'd have to have largely bought into the back story of it all.

Purely scifi, just off the top of my head - The Thing, Invasion of the body snatchers, Moon. Solaris and 2001 but that's more artsy fartsy stuff.

A lot of non-scifi psychopath ones.

Alien is great, it's just there are a lot of other movies with the same sort of set up, but better character development and more interesting bad guys.

2001 is a masterpiece of cinema and a better movie than Alien but the "locked inside with a monster" description is stretching it a tad. Alien beats the others by a wide margin, including Solaris.

2001's space flight stuff made its name but you had to read the book to make sense of everything else. Amazing effects with 60s' technology but a loooong film that had you scratching your head several times as to what was happening.
I'm not sure it's in any way comparable to Alien other than both are sci-fi. Alien is in many ways an old fashioned horror film that cuts down on costs by only suggesting the monster for a great deal of the film. Special effects were old school really, shadows and smoke for suspense etc. I'd compare it with 'Them!' but with money behind it and some modern blue-screen stuff. And Sigourney Weaver in her undies.

If the Yanks got their way Back In Black wouldn't have been black and Stairway To Heaven would have lost 4 minutes. This was back in the era when a musicians art was more important to them than money. The 80's destroyed music's soul in the name of commercialism. A single wrapped in a Snuggler? Is that for real? My Baby was a shit song a snuggler was probably apt.. sarcasm aside though record companies always make iffy commercial decisions that's life unfortunately but you can still cut through all that rubbish over there and build a following they weren't willing to do it.. other aussie bands with less talent were and had some success.

Yeah but there was a stage years back that no matter where I went I got to see Cold Chisel play. At one stage I got to see them play in 3 different cities in the space of two or three weeks.
Oh no, not Chisel again.
