Let's see what the numbers look like in 10, 20, 30 years time. I hope I'm wrong but I see events like this in Australia's future.

Unfortunately you're probably right. But more distrust and oppression is the worst possible solution to the problem. There's no more surefire way to create more disaffected and angry Muslim youths.

We'll see about that when oil becomes a non-issue in 50 years. I'm betting the increased poverty in the Middle East will make things worse, not better.

Well, will they ever be able to recover? That's the question.

Multiculturalism in itself is not the issue, but when you're destroying said immigrant's homeland where many of their relatives still live, well you can understand there might be some friction. I'm not comfortable with being hated for the activities that my government engages in either.

Resource curse makes countries under developed. The west has long supported dictatorships that give them access to resources.

Bloody terrible tragedy what has happened in Paris.

Probably have another 100 years of this shit until Muslim extremists get overrun by their own, just like Christian extremists were eventually overrun by their own in the 1800's and early 1900's. Lets not forget if you werent a Christian when the Crusades, the Inquistion, burning at the stake for being a non believer, Nazi Germany, the Conquistadors in Southern and Central America, the European push in North America and Oz etc, you were subjected to a similar level of barbarism and the perpetrators thought they had a god given right to butcher people like today's arseholes do. Instead of bombs and guns you had knifes, swords, and other torture weapons.

Nothing will ever change until Western forces leave the Middle East and stop raping it for it's natural resources.
Yeah, because it is not as if Muslims are killing Muslims in the Middle East. The recent bombings in Lebanon haven't had the same coverage here as the Paris bombings because the victims were Arabs.

I'm not disagreeing on that.

I love this. Chastity in life, debauchery in heaven. What a pitiful philosophy.

I really wish there was an afterlife where believers of this type are told by God "boy you really stuffed up. you have two weeks in this room to think about it before your consciousness is erased forever"

With all these suicide bombers, and ISISers being droned, Old Nick might be telling them, "Feck off - we're full!"

Won't change a thing. There's enough angst between Sunnis and Shias for violence to continue into perpetuity.

Ahh Chiwigi, reliable defender of the hilariously indefensible. :)
Yeah, imagine having empathy.
Didn't defend the attacks at all but did criticise the cause. Let's ignore the cause then shall we? That'll make us all feel better.
Having been to Afghan, Kosovo, Iraq, Pakistam etc (have the medals to prove it if you want to see them). I think I have some grasp of the true causes.

Maybe ISIS sponsors The Advertiser and the Crows considering how much outrage it gathers here. :p

**** it, just nuke the middle east, i am fairly sure all the old ICBM's need recalibrating just send them there.

Please don't. I like it here.
Seriously the level of outrage here is just as high as everywhere else.
The UAE were bombing ISIS targets way before Australia were.

Of course you do.

It's all the west's fault.

There are a lot of righteously angry people in this world. Why the surprise?

Really?
Dont act the fool. The only reason the west is attacked is in retaliation. For Israel, Iraq, Iran and Afghanistan. Jeez

If you are querying my medals and credentials then you're a twat of the highest order.
Here they are for you (taken on my blazer last week)

There is a vast difference between justifying a terrorist attack (e.g. blame the west) and providing an explanation and reasoning for why it occurred (it is probably partly to do with the French foreign policy in the Middle East, and the perceived injustice felt by the terrorists from the West over many years).
On that note, I think the fact that one of the attackers allegedly shouted something regarding France's actions in Syria probably means that this attack was in response to France's, and the West in general attacks, as opposed to strictly trying to spread Sharia law or any of that jazz.
