Nokia are still making good phones though, and there's nothing wrong with the current OS setup.

Symbian, it was. But yeah, Nokia Lumias are fantastic bits of kit, really rate them.

A great product that trumps anything offered by Apple is the latest Microsoft Surface, fantastic device in comparison to any of Apple laptop (lol) or tablet offerings.

Yeah my mate was the type who used to rile me up about Apple and how he has lots of apple products, he always used to be like "look at my top quality phone and premium service and support" just as a joke because he knew it annoyed me.

He bought an S6 the other day, he texted me "I'm texting you from a Samsung, you happy?". He immediately noted how much better it was without ITunes and the easy plug and play nature of Samsung devices, and is very happy with the freedom in regards to extra bits and pieces. Rates the camera and video recording too.

Apple have managed to make their products difficult and restrictive to use (mainly when interfacing with any other device that isn't Apple) in their pursuit of world domination through watertight control of it's users.

Swore I'd never buy an iPhone....then work started supplying them as our preferred device. So far have had a 4, 5 and now 6s. All been good reliable phones. Blackberries were great for email and that's it. Had a couple of Samsung Androids as personal phone, will never buy again, got sick of continual updates and reboots. Currently on my 3rd Lumia as a personal phone and like the iPhone it never misses a beat.

Inclined to agree. They missed the boat big time in trying to develop their own proprietary software without the same resources as apple. Microsoft lead them down that path and executed it very poorly. I've got high hopes for the new Microsoft stuff though as they move to make all their devices (including pcs) use the same OS with the same capabilities.

My only issue with the Galaxy line is up the ****ing bloatware they put on and then makes it impossible to remove without voiding the warranty by rooting.

The best thing i ever did with my old S4 was jailbreak it (i hate using the word root) and install cyanogenmod, battery life lasted longer and was genuinely faster.

And this is actually what Sony tried to do years ago too.

I'm one of those saddos on a flip-phone. A lot of my co-workers have been given smartphones for work and when I've been forced to use them I've needed a tutorial. My Samsung flip-phone, going strong since 2011 and I hope it keeps on trucking.

I know this too, I had a Sony slider that I had to buy an adaptor for for my 3.5mm headphones. 5 bucks from eBay and it didn't even ****in' work. Damn you, China (Sorry LR).

Nice looking piece of kit / shiny toy for 13 year old me.
