They start extra early this time of year. Xmas is totally ****ed up for parcel deliver drivers. Although when I did it we were told we weren't allowed to knock on doors until after 7.00am.

Ah, this happened to me recently. The online tracking said it was delivered the Friday while I was at work, get home and there's nothing. No parcel, no card. It then turned up on the Monday. Happened to a friend of mine too. My guess is you'll get your parcel tomorrow.

How is Mad Max in the running for an aussie movie award? I though movies had to be Australian for that?

Written, directed and produced by George Miller, who is Australian.

Granted he didn't dig up Bill Hunter's corpse to play Bill Hunter playing Bill Hunter.

So the director is responsible for the locality of an entire film?

Filmed in Africa, starring a Brit, using a foriegn crew.

The Crow, now that was an Australian classic!

Matrix was more Australian, Star Wars prequels were more Australian.

Yeah I'm not keen on claiming those...

All good points, but:

Famous Australian franchise. That's the clincher.

AC/DC pass as an Australian band so.....

The only time in the last 10 years I remember a true blue dinky di Australian film being wanked over by critics was Animal Kingdom in 2010, which was not bad, but also not that much better than a midday TV movie or an episode of Underbelly.

So yeah, Mad Max can have all our awards.

Still more Australian presence than Fury Road

How much do you need?

- Australian director
- Australian producer
- Australian writers
- Australian cinematographer
- Australian editor
- Australian production designer
- Partially shot in western Sydney
- Set in Australia
- A slew of Australian actors including Angus Sampson, John Howard, Megan Gale, Joy Smithers and triple points for Quentin

I mean we all would've liked to have seen Robert Hughes, Rolf Harris and Joan "The Freak" Ferguson in the roles played by Tom Hardy, Nicholas Hoult and Charlize Theron, but it just wasn't to be.

Meagan Gale is as much of an actress as Nuclear Physicist Denise Richards.

Nontheless, I would have liked more than a token effort at attempting to film in Australia, more than a token attempt to cast an Australian actor in the lead role, there's so much more than could've done.

To use the AC/DC analogy, if they shut up shop and formed a new band with a new name, no one would be claiming them as Aussie anymore. That is essentially what Mad Max has done. It is no longer an Aussie franchise, it has been rebooted. The video game had the golden gate bridge on the cover ffs.
