Hey. I gave no spoilers, it wasn't my fault I guessed the entire plot by accident when trolling about what the eventual plot would be.

Ben eckermann is the inaugural captain phasma award winner for services in being pointless and getting rekt.

You did, you posted a picture from the trailer that you really shouldn't have and you have also spoiled Fallout 4 for those who haven't played it yet.

Now that it's owned by disney will Donald duck make an appearance?

It's hard to know exactly what training Rey had, but I can comfortably say, a lot ****ing less than Luke by the time he took on Vader in Empire. The same with Fin. They way they both stood toe to toe with someone who is a trained Jedi and on his way to becoming a trained Sith was too much for me, then again when Rey overpowered him in the force battle as well as the lightsaber duel.

It bothered me. I was counting on Luke to turn up during the duel and save them.

That picture was a guess and you know it. It was in the trailer ffs.

Meh.

Fallout 4, fair enough.

People put way too much emphasis on Jedi training without understanding what it actually is. It isn't "Hey I need to learn how to use a light saber, I need Yoda to teach me how". It's more about trusting your instincts, to feel and not think.

Jedi training is about learning how to control emotions and not succumb to the dark side. A force sensitive without training will follow the path of Anakin Skywalker...which is where I see Rey heading since she seems pretty reluctant to rely on anyone else for help.

I just put it down the fact he had been shot in the gut with Chewie's bowcaster which they purposefully had shown throughout the movie as being a very powerful weapon. It was sending stoppers flying left and right and Han remarks a few times how much he likes it.

Really doesn't change that you shouldn't have posted it. There are spoiler tags on this forum for a reason.

Like I thought it would actually be a spoiler! In any case, it's done, and I assure everyone it wasn't my intention to spoil anything and it was all speculation nothing more.

Well, aside from tongue in cheek stirring of other star wars fans.

I think Rey would of developed The Force unknowingly during her time left on Jakku surviving with the scavengers. Her life looks spartan, leaving her plenty of time to contemplate the vagaries of her existence. She'd developed agility, cunning, patience, values congruent with her Jakku colleagues and has tempered her aggression, a quality not seen with the other young traditionally trained Jedi. Then the Force naturally revealed itself & opened up in her.

That's one way to look at it...but she also refuses to let go of the hope that one day her family will return. She is those things by necessity, not by choice. I think isolation has helped her, but it's when faced with choice - a choice that Finn made - that a persons true nature is revealed.

One of the things that makes me believe Finn is or will be force sensitive is when, after he says to Han "We'll use the Force" as a plan and Han chastises him for it. When they find Rey etc Han says something about how "This good luck isn't going to last." Which recalled what Obi Wan said when Luke deflected those blaster bolts with that helmet on and Han said "I call it luck."

"In my experience there's no such thing as luck."

I'm of the opinion that the Force manifests itself when it is required. It wasn't luck that drew Finn to where Rey was, nor was it luck that enabled him to use the guns in both a TIE fighter and the Falcon with zero training. And he went toe to toe with a storm trooper weilding a weapon specifically designed to block lightsabers - most likely that soldier was part of an elite regiment trained to take down the last remaining Jedi.

It won't bother me if he isn't, but it would be cool to see two divergent paths explored concurrently instead of just one - the prodigy (Rey/Anakin) vs the plodder (Finn/Luke)

lol what are we spoilering for things that might happen now?

Sure take it to the extreme and anything that might happen should be spoil tagged. Or perhaps just use common sense when posting and be courteous to others on the forum.

Re: Jedi Training
The whole concept of younglings and Jedi training academies and shit. Total prequel idea in order to shove more lightsabers into the movie. As they're distancing the new films from the prequels I think they're seeing stricter Jedi training as less important. Well still important but they're not presenting it in the way that the prequels and thus a lot of the EU did.

Rey and Finn could hold their own in the fight against Ren because he was completely conflicted and distracted. He just killed his father and he was already emotionally unstable (tantrums etc).
