God into the wild is a great movie.
Chris McCandless was pretty foolish and unprepared though, if you read into it more I think there was a way out had he known more about the area he was in, like an elevated hand-operated pulley type thing a few miles hike away that would've got him over the river.. the alaskans thought he was a bit of a wally.

That good, eh?

Flights booked for the Carlton and Sydney away games. $450 well spent! Probably going to the Brisbane game as well
May you have better luck than I did with 2015 Brisbane and Carlton.

Even though I swore off Perth unless we get stuck playing a final there, I went all nuts and booked flights for that one...

Then went real nuts and booked the Alice Springs game... The last time I was in Alice Springs was in 2004... You can see where I'm going with this...

By the way, your pancakes will be in the mail

He was but the life journey was enlightening.

He squeezed more out of life in a few years than most can in a life time.

I recommend the ibis Styles Alice Springs Oasis. Cheap but fine. Directly across from Traeger Park. Have fun, I loved it at that game last year and would go again in 2016 but this is going to be a busy expensive year for us elsewhere.

Thanks! I'm really looking forward to it, will be sure to give the ibis Styles a look

Yea look I admire his spirit & going off the grid like that takes balls but he's used as a precautionary tale in those parts because of how ill-prepared he was, someone like Richard Proenneke sets a better example than McCandless.

In and out of the refrigerated truck in the heat got my sinuses up and about. Struck me as a 'family' Co with some drivers being
your old school 'real' characters. A bloke called Cyril in particular. There was an art to loading your truck and
finding a park close to the shop to deliver orders. Naturally it took me awhile to finish 'runs' on time until Cyril told me
"double park mate and if you box somebody in for a minute or two, giv'em an ice cream, that'll shut 'em up."
The old factory on Angas St is now home to probably 100 people or more in medium/high density living.
Peter Darley ex South Adelaide champion had the '7 Stars' near by. A favourite for the drivers on payday.

I can go back to the early 50's when amscol icecream came enclosed in a cardboard brick about the size of half a loaf of bread, in the 60's the packaging changed to another cardboard container not dissimilar in size to a tissue box, but not as high.
None of those namby pamby plastic containers for us baby boomers. ;)

My grandma used to cut the icecream in slices, and served with home made fruit salad, sliced peaches, or nectarines it was absolutely deliciosa. :)
That was of course well before my taste buds were damaged by the occasional frothy.

Was the 1st time I ever had stewed quinces. Not to everybody's taste but yum to me.
Don't see quinces that often now, pity really. Maybe their future lies in a hipster led fad.
Homemade ice cream wasn't uncommon in those days.

I was at the 2014 and 2015 games in Alice and have booked for this years. As Powerstufff posted it is a great game to attend.

Kind of glad I won't be in Australia on Australia Day

Kind of glad I won't be in Australia on Australia Day

I'll be out bush in the middle of nowhere, last year I was at Uluru having a BBQ, looking as Australian as possible with a group of mates - and all the German tourists were all over us, all wanting pictures and staring and being like David Attenborough "Look, as we see the Australian, in their natural habitat...see as he rotates the sausages on Australia's favourite cooking implement, the BBQ."

The australia day ads have been tired, but this is excellent.

Uneven but a pass. The only time I can imagine missing Abbott is they could have done more with the Prime Minister bit. Mitch in Bali (Garry, get out of the pool) and Princess Mary were very good.
