Probably his correct title is a great artist, because he covered so many of the arts, wrote and sang songs, be it rock, pop, some soul, sometimes crooner sometimes other stuff, was an actor of TV, film and theatre, wrote stuff for film and theatre, fashion icon, and more.

When I was like 15 I was so much into punk rock that I actively disliked any songs with even a hint of a guitar solo. I took it far too seriously for a time. My dislike for Iron Maiden was immense - around that time they came to play in Rock in Rio with THREE guitarists.

I'm not a fanatic anymore but overly long solos still do my head in. Guitar wanking should be done in private just like normal wanking.

In the last of the three Metallica shows I went to, they seemed to be extending every single song by around 2 minutes with guitar solos which annoyed me out of my mind.

I saw it over the break and thought pretty much the same. I still enjoyed it though.

I saw the original 3 Star Wars movies when they had their original cinema releases and then didn't bother with any of the prequels.

Nice. I saw Star Wars at the Elizabeth Drive In, Empire at The Academy Cinemas and Return at West Beach Drive. I must be the kiss of death. as none of these exist anymore. If they start to show movies at Windy Hill I am so there.

I also find the music of Nirvana sounds like a fart... At least Grohl can properly craft songs, some of them even good.

Most bland radio rock that make Nickelback look like the underground and edgy out of the 2.

Grohl has more incommen with nickelback than nirvana.

Don't give **** what the rest think, 10 and Vs were great albums (lost total interest after that), Badmotorfinger better than Superunknown times a million, and Purple by STP was one of the great albums of the 90s.

Agree, superfuzz big muff from mudhoney was great and Houdini from the melvins is a classic.

We've been to a few 'A Day on the Greens' (odd capitalisation) in recent years. There's always at least one wanky drummer or lead guitarist who thinks we're there to see them, not the act they are suporting. Once that extended solo gets going my wife knows she has to shoot either them or me with the sedative darts, or I'm going to get verbal.

"A Day on the Green" is a music festival for people with colostomy bags and if you go you deserve drum, bass and guitar solos because the only people less interested than you are the people performing.
