Razorback_quad-1.jpg

Said it was gonna film in Broken Hill and actually did!

Good guy Razorback.

That clip is so ******ed every time I hear it I cringe

wtf is wrong with playing music that sounds like it's from a different era if it's good. And Wolfmother's Wolfmother is a very enjoyable album. Stockdale being an arseh*le or no.

It isn't so much the music as it is the sound. The reason 60s and 70s music sounds how it is is because that was the best production available.

Bands in 2000 trying to mimic 1965 production values is lame, and I love AC/DC so I know about when being old fashioned crosses the line from classic to lame.

I'm struggling to understand your point

Why is it lame again? Achieving a sound that is well loved by a lot of people is lame? Instead of chasing sterile perfection in the modern era, using old equipment for a different sound is lame?

For my part, I think you're just taking a reductive view of the largely rhetorical "what year are we in?" sentiment.

There are a lot of bands that pay homage to the late 60's/early 70's sound exceptionally well, but I don't think Wolfmother is one of them.

Witchcraft, Uncle Acid, Purson to name just a few.

Say what you want about all the old rock bands still eeking out a few songs, but at they sound like they're recording in 2015.

Wolfmother, and I did enjoy their album, but it sounded 30 years old when it was released.

You say this like it's a bad thing

I'd way prefer a new band with a banging album that sounds straight out of 1975 than some geriatrics putting out mediocrity produced to "perfection".

If people wanna disregard good music because it sounds like it's from a different era then w/e you can miss out.

Or Wolfmother :D

People are just dissing Wolfmother are they not? not everyone that goes for an old-school sound

Stockdale is talented I just think he's a dreadful songwriter

Fred got too confrontational. Let's all have no date, a two litre bottle of Shasta, and an all-Rush mixtape.

I still listen to the music... I dunno, I admit I can be a recording snob, but its exciting to hear things being done new and different. Are we still using cutouts and stop motion in movies?

Bob Rock and Mutt Lange are the peak of production values for me. Dave Mustaine destroyed about 4 Megadeth albums but improved 2 with his "remasters", it can drastically change a sound.

It all sounds the same live, so why not do something different on the album?

Or Wolfmother :D
I'm not even a huge fan but that argument that if it sounds like it's from the 70s it can be dismissed is dumb (regardless of me interpreting that Patton quote rightly or wrongly)

A more raw, warm sound is more comparible to the way cartoons were drawn in the 90s with modern music production being like the way they are now. Sure it's more smooth and clean but it's not necessarily better.

I was listening to a mix tape that had some Ted Nugent on it... There's a bloke who knows how to ruin a good song with a wanky guitar solo.

Well that I agree with, but Wolfmother wasn't even that, it wanted to be Black Sabbath 100%. Not even a hint of modern clarity and polish.

Fixed

Nothing is new, modern production is sterile, I hate you all
