On He Man... the Masters of the Universe movie is, of course, terrible.

But Frank Langella as Skeletor ****ing rules. The ultimate example of a great actor slumming it and just chewing as much scenery as he likes. Unmissable.

Market forces is not a bullshit reason and I think you know that. Hollywood is big business, it succumbs to such. independent movies have more scope obviously, but to dismiss market forces when talking about Hollywood is disingenuous. I do appreciate that I am also contradicting my complaint about them simply feminising the characters in Ghostbusters here, so I'll retract that earlier point.

`Market forces' is a bullshit reason for things not being apparently viable for the reasons I gave. The industry is pretty clearly at a bad equilibrium, where the market for film creation and distribution is very closed up and predominantly belonging to white males. The system as it exists tries to support that continuation as an institutional force (meaning that it is made up of individuals not trying to change it), and the only evolution it gets is when rarely something comes from the outside, and even that has minimal effect.

So when you say that something virtually untested can't succeed because of market forces, you need to at least recognise that Hollywood is the exact opposite of a well balanced and open/free marketplace.

Fey may be formulaic, but she can never be accused of not creating roles for females.

Lots of shows have females, but there wouldn't be many episodes of 30 Rock that passed the Bechdel test, as an example.

Not that much actually.

My biggest gripe is that he tends to use way too many multi-syllable words per sentence, trying to project a "Mad Genius" image or something. I dunno it just bugs me.

Apart from that though I think he can be quite funny and observant.

I liked Brand in a couple of his movie roles although he essentially plays the same character and I'm not sure he is capable of anything more.

I have a friend who likes to organise TV marathons with thematic menus... rum ham sounds great. Milk steak, not so much.

Ponderosa Trial and CharDee 2 are probably the only episodes I'll add to my regular rotation of... well, all the episodes they've made until this season.

The way they put the implication into the latest episode was soooooo forced
