and herein lies Newcastle's problem.
They haven't won the league since the Wall Street crash, but believe they are a big club because they have great attendances. It has built a sense of entitlement that prevents them doing better.
That's exactly the perception I'm talking about. The fans don't expect to be winning the champions league, but a few solid mid-table finishes as part of building a foundation towards further improvement wouldn't go astray.
In no universe should a club of Newcastle's stature have hired Joe ****ing Kinnear, for instance. Now we've got Steve McClaren who struggled to manage Forest and Derby in the Championship last time out.
I'm not quite sure why "we're shit and we're sick of it" translates to "WHY ARENT WE WINNING THE LEAGUE FFS".
