I loved the book. The problem with the film is if you haven't read the book you couldn't possibly understand it. Knowing the story inside out I actually really liked the film despite the criticisms. It's not really a "Lynch " film though, and it's such a pity that Dali didn't end up doing the design for it. See Blue Velvet if you haven't.

Yes, but I think Dave just didn't want to do it. He told Lucas to direct it.

I remember back in the 256gb Ipod days, kids coming to school and talking about what movies they have on it. I'm thinking wtf, are you seriously gonna sit there and watch a movie on that screen for 2 hours? Even travelling I would rather close my eyes, or look out the window, than do that. A disgrace.
