Whether you love or hate grunge at least it was scene that impacted on mainstream dirge.. Chart music has pretty much reverted back to "no connection to anything real pop pap" ever since.

*There's always great music around though it just doesn't impact in that way, gone are the days major labels sent employees out to the local scenes in cities around the world to try and tap into what's really happening.

It was a sarcastic generalisation of how history looks back at musical trends. 20 years later, people don't think of pop music defining the 90s, they thing soundgarden and Korn.

Same with the 80s and hair metal when really at the time it was pop and hip hop, the 70s with rock, the 60s with Brit rock. None of it was ever as massive as it has become it hindsight, except perhaps the Beatles.

Thought I do respect savage garden for starting a group of that style when at the time 9/10 kids starting bands were Nirvana wannabes. That part I'm genuine about.

Musical trends don't last for a solid ten years and have the exact same characteristics. The 90s are absolutely known for some massive pop songs, but the early 90s were very different to the late 90s ie. MC Hammer ----> Ricky Martin. Where do Savage Garden sit? Somewhere at the tail end. WELL AFTER grunge. They weren't some sort of mavericks, either.

The seventies aren't only known for rock. A little thing called disco happened.

Simply Red, REM, Lighthouse Family, D:Ream, Wet, Wet, Wet, Seal, Tears for Fears, Counting Crows...I could go on, but I don't want to.

Nice win, nice price but how the hell did you pick that?

A mate who is a massive punter was in our box at the races yesterday and he had 5k on it at 15's. He was banging on about it all day. I took 11 fixed so got under in the end but 50 e/w got me back in the black for the day.

So just a tip from a mate really.

Same bloke had another 5k on Toast at 4.4 straight after.

Pretty excited to see the Fresh Prince of Bel Air is on Netflix

Oh shit Ice Tray is Don Cheadle!

I think I've crossed the Rubicon of self parody where piss taking becomes impossible to detect over text form.

Serious about the delirious part though, why they **** did I take this old job back that involves 5am weekend starts?

When I get like that I make it a manual decision not to let fingers touch keyboard, 'else the first think you think of when you wake is "What was I thinking?"

All I remember about Savage Garden is something about cherry cola, and the missus and young daughters liked them. That equals 'pop' music

You know what has occured to me recently

I joined an Always Sunny group of fb and a shockingly high amount of the fanbase misses the point of the show completely, to the point of relating to the characters. Ergh.

Sort of like the large subset of Breaking Bad fans who still think that Walter White was the hero of the story.

Meant to upload this a while back, when that Atari/ET documentary was on TV. Unfortunately the memory card reader shat itself, but today I went to in Dick Smiths and bought a new one cheap.

How good is Alpha Beam with Ernie? I loved that game as a kid.
Jungle Hunt is the shit too.

I've still got my 2600 (the bigger one) and some games in the garage.
It doesn't work anymore though. :(

Yeah I tried to get this going the night the pictures were taken but it was dead. Maybe one day I'll get it fixed, there are nerds on the internet you can post them too and that have a look at them. It isn't in the pic but also have the large plastic hunk of shit control with the keyboard overlay for the Ernie game.

Whilst Sons of Anarchy is definitely a bit below the 2 shows in quality, it too goes to length to show the unsuitability of these lifestyles and the pain and horror they cause people, and I don't need to tell anyone here how many people idolise the blokes in that.
