Surgery in general is an amazing experience. First you get the anaesthesia, but then you wake up with unusual pains that may never have felt before or feel again, which is not exactly pleasant but its interesting as hell. And if you're really lucky, you get Fentanyl on a buzzer immediately afterwards, and maybe some Endone following that - SCORE!

I mean its not something you should go out of your way to do, or that you might even want to do (probably not) but try and enjoy the experience, hey. Unless your doctor has indicated you're an unusually high risk of fading out, you'll be fine.

Am 42 and yet to have any surgery whatsoever. I really hope to keep it that way!!

Never spent a day in hospital. Never had anything I would even consider a serious illness or injury. Worst pain I've ever been experienced was a throat infection. Closest thing to surgery, a few stitches and some teeth removed.

Maybe I've lead too careful a life. :p

Only surgeries I've ever had was getting tubes put in and then taken out when I was a kid. Lucky I guess. Only issue is I had this done two or three times and now there is so much scar tissue in my right ear that I've got 80% hearing in the ear.

I had 12 stitches put into the arch of my foot without any form of painkillers which was interesting I guess.

I've had 2 surgeries. One was to have my tonsils removed and the other was the emergency surgery to fix that surgery after projectile vomiting blood in the ED.

Having your tonsils out as an adult can be hell.

I was given Endone to go home with after I blew my lung out in late '14 and couldn't see what all the fuss was about.

Mediocre analgesic effect, absolutely no addictive tendency whatsoever. I felt short-changed having heard the legends and considered writing a letter to Frank Pangallo and Roseanna Fonzarelli.

Agreed. Was given Endone when I popped my back and it did absolutely **** all to help me out. In fact I was given it by my doctor friend while I was at the Port club later on the day I had injured it. He was expecting me to get tired and be out of it, nothing happened aside from the shitty port club chairs making it worse.

Made the right choice last night in seeing the Painters and Dockers at The Gov rather than wandering across the road to see Damien Leith's tribute to Roy Orbison. The last time I faced this dilemma it was Karnivool vs Nickleback.

Karnivool have two maybe three good songs. The rest are mostly just bizarre white noise mixed with some odd lyrics.

We are, all I know and Eidolon

Had such a bad migraine once, the Doc came around and injected me with something really good - the best feeling ever... some sort of opiate ... it was one of those
Picture yourself in a boat on a river
With tangerine trees and marmalade skies
Somebody calls you, you answer quite slowly
A girl with kaleidoscope eyes
moments

Carn m8 you'll be fine, anaestheticians these days are better than in the past or thereabouts...

One time having surgery, the anaesthician wheeled in some machine to hook me up to. Couldn't get it to work. Next thing - BANG! He just whacked the shit out of it it like an old TV. Then it kicked over. I was ready to get the f@%k outta Dodge! But seconds later I went under. Still here. So...

You are dead and are in hell where the crows are playing premiership football.

I hope I never have to be put under again.

Ive had 6 knee ops, thumb pinned twice. Appendix out and all 4 wisdom teeth out in the chair. All under general and all heavenly.

Busted nose twice, broken collarbone, broken left arm, broken ribs, broken thumb twice, broken left leg and one broken toe.

Can hardly walk or move when its cold but no trouble bending my elbow so life good.

I must say I would not welcome broken ribs again. That was pain.

I hope I never have to be put under again.
The going under didn't bother me. Except for the needle. I hate needles. Get cut and bleed and its meh. See myself or anyone get a needle live or on screen and I get nauseous.

Ah yes. I remember being young and boasting nearly word for word the exact same. I was superman. Then I hit 39 and nek minit the karma bus hit me...

Needles are no problem for me but touch me with that ****ing cotton wool after you take my blood and I'll spew everywhere.

Cotton wool is my kryptonite.

Cotton wool is evil. Packets of cornflour are evil too. That texture.

Blurk. Spew on the floor.

When i was put under
I was having the overnight surgery the same night that Brett Ebert had his knee (?) Done

And the first thing i saw when i woke up was his bum

That was actually his head.

You were drug ****ed man.

General means you're unconscious. How is it heavenly?

Heavenly sleep.

Morphine when I wake up.

Being allergic to codeine is the best thing that's ever happened to me.

Oxycontin was in a paper bag of mixed drugs the Cairns Hospital gave me about 10 years back. I didn't even know what it was, nobody explained it to me, but I do remember I enjoyed it

Tonsils out, Adnoids out, Shoulder reco, Wisdom Teeth out. They are the four surgeries ive had. Spent a week in hospital when I nearly died from Glandular Fever. Like the 'barr, I hope never to be put under again. Hate it.

That stuff they give you before they wheel you in usually helps you take these things in your stride :drunk:
