Is it just me or has Springsteen all of a sudden become incredibly popular amongst the under 30s. Seems like every young hipster renegade is blabbering on about "The Boss" like some 45yo line worker from New Jersey.

Yeah i've been thinking the same thing for the last 18 months. More so about USA kids than Oz kids.

His oldest son is about 22 and a muso. His son plays more hipster stuff so the Boss has added that to his entree of rock, blues, pop, folk and country stuff he plays - Rocky Ground from his Wrecking Ball CD is a classic example.

He has started talking at music venues where lots of different musical styles are played, so he is connecting with kids, does guest appearances with them or them on his tour eg Gas Light Anthem. A lot of youngsters grew up and listened to his stuff because there parents played his musid or they just listened and connected with lyrics about getting out of this town that's a death trap, to chase your dreams and visions. Their music style might be different but the kids remember those words. Plus he is very open to working with and helping young muso's. There isn't any rock star prima donna stuff with the Boss to fellow muso's.

Or maybe its the tough times in the US. His lyrics from previous tough times resonate - as do some of his new songs like the following from Jack of all trades

I love Philly. Architecture is amazing with all the olde England type buildings and cobble stone roads, the town hall is the biggest in the world apparently and the Benjamin Franklin Parkway leading up to the Rocky steps with all the flags lining the streets is cool.

Then head down to South street at night and get one of Jims famous cheese steaks washed down with a Mountain Dew followed by a few Buds at the pubs and bars

Sam Adams? It's a bit of a stronger beer in terms of taste, especially the winter ales. It's a bit of a nostalgic beer for me being from the Boston/New England area.

I had a Sam Adams at Red Lobster, haha. It's good, but if your going for that maltier flavour I prefer Brooklyn Lager. It was on tap everywhere in Manhattan, and relatively cheap. I had one just the other day and nostalged all over myself.

The Grace Emily have a good range of imports tucked away in their old school wooden fridges. Another good American beer that my friends put me onto is Sierra Nevada Pale Ale, it's from Cali. The Grace has that too.

I think Dan Murphy's stock both those beers too, but I'm not 100%.
