With the Internet giving everyone a mild case of ADD, this generation of music "fans" is definitely the one who most identifies with what they don't like rather than what they do. Musical identity has become so negative.

This is a great call.

The day I genuinely stopped identifying with JJJ (despite a decade of being disappointed with the music they pushed and the music they left behind) was the Taylor Swift hottest 100 outcry and subsequent banning.

I don't even own a Swift album or anything but #carn. If people can't get behind a self made cross-genre superstar who writes all of her own incredibly catchy songs, what are we doing with our lives? You don't have to love her music but actively disliking and sooking that it would be played on your radio station it is really boring.

Giving everyone 10 votes means the top 10 is full of bland shit because boring stuff that is inoffensive enough to be everyone's 8th favourite song gets a shitload of votes.

I'd love them to release a list just with everyone's top pick counting each year. If I still cared or listened.

Kendrick should have won and I don't even really like Kendrick. King Kunta is such a belter.

The last two years winners have been so boring. Rip Tide is a great track, ditto Somebody That I Used To Know. Thrift Shop was catchy but a bit of a meme winner, if you will. I can't remember any further back.

The competition was so much stronger in 1996 and yet if El Scorcho was released today it would probably finish 412th, with only you and me voting for it because people who listen to JJJ prefer bland electronica
