Souvla is Greek for skewer, it's the full lamb (or sliced) on the spit. Souvlaki is just a small skewer.

So there is souvla meat inside a yiros, but you don't call a pie "beef" do ya?

Edit: Kebab is correct for Turkish/Lebanese versions, only a Shish Kebab is exclusively the skewered meat.
So it's the fault of the Turkish and Lebanese that the naming convention has gone to shit. See the only failure of multiculturalism in Australia is that we brought in more than one kind of Eastern European and now we have a civil war on meat in a pita naming conventions.

I went to the USA v Canada Ice Hockey Challenge last night at the Entertainment Centre. Perfect excuse to drag out my vintage L A Kings jersey. I have watched plenty of games on ESPN and the like but you do not realise how fast it really is. Great skills and plenty of action. The referees keep out of the game and only get involved when really needed unlike a game we all watch. I can see where Port Adelaide have pinched some of their pre game and in game entertainment from to.

I ask my daughter who came along to what she thought. Her reply "Good, but there wasn't enough fights"

What sort of child am I raising?

Nah a kebab stands alone against a yiros. The meat is slightly different and so is the pita.

Sort of like how lasagna and pastitsio are same same but different.

So a kebab is a kebab.

But calling a yiros a kebab is incorrect and vicky versa.

And soulva is nowhere unless you're referring to the spit.

The first time I had and heard of a yiros was about circa 1982. It was a Lebanese unleavened bread wrapping bits of fried lamb, capsicum, onion, cabbage and a couple of other things, probably garlic or something. A Lebanese bloke sold them somewhere in the Campbelltown area. It was an experience I have never forgotten, and nothing like the shiskebabs that I had had because of family culture

Yiros.
Chunkier pieces of souvla meat is the big difference. In Greece they're generally a bit smaller with a thicker pita like the one below, although they tend to use bigger wraps here.

Kebab.
Thinly sliced meat and lebanese wrap, which also tends to be a bit thinner. They're usually toasted as well, so if it's in alfoil it's probably a kebab.

Souvla.
This delicious beast!

Alternatively, since this young generation think it's okay to kill countrymen over a difference in vote, we could just kill all of the millennials and start again since clearly someone has ****** up breeding a generation that wishes to kill their elders over wealth and their right to vote.

Seriously, this is becoming a ******* disgrace. Killing people who disagree with your vote sounds awfully fascist to me.

What are you, 100 years old and senile? It's a satirical article.
