Right on Jonts.

A Coalition or Labor majority government would be the best result for Australia.

Disagree with this. What exactly is wrong with minority governments? In my opinion the current majority coalition government has been far more unstable due to the hostile senate (although I would personally describe the coalition as hostile and the senate as sensible).

Malcom may well face the same issues with the new senate as well when the government inevitably try to push through legislation that only benefits the rich why screwing the most vulnerable in our society.

I just want a majority government

Absolutely, regardless of which of the major parties wins the election they need to be able to govern in their own right. :thumbsu:

The current situation where the greens and various semi literate fringe dwellers control the senate doesn't do the country any favours.

Effectively we have had minority governments for 6 years. It's not working.

Don Chipp started the Democrats to "keep the bastards honest". The senate isn't doing that anymore.

We'll see what happens but if old Mal doesn't get a majority in both houses we might just go straight back to the polls anyway.

Minority governments right now are like John Connor, the only thing postponing a SkyNet apocalypse/right wing utopia

Remember when we had real politicians who could make decisions in their head?
Like Ken would say "you get what you deserve"
Candidates are held to such intense scrutiny with the 24/7 news machine that parties can only attract the fundamentalists or the inept. Who amongst us would stick their hand up? Who doesn't have a skeleton or two? Who would put their family under such a spotlight?
We're told that voting is an important responsibility and there's countries where citizens would jeopardise their lives for the right to vote, but there's not been anyone offered up in Australia in recent memory who isn't a narcissistic lying arseh*le.

Vote dick&balls

Look at how that works in Queensland where they have a single house, you get nutters like Newman who spend 4 years messing everything up and then getting chucked out.

The idea that any party should be able to pass any legislation that they want to is incredibly dangerous in my opinion but I respect people who have a different view.

If the coalition don't end up with a majority in both houses all it means is that voters don't want them to have a free reign. I'm sure they would get a majority if the majority of people wanted them to have it.

Xenophon pisses me off. He claims to be from the sensible centre and people seem to love him. I'm just confused by him, I don't know what he stands for and I can't guess what he will and wont vote for, you certainly can't bank on him being rational or sensible, he believes in "wind turbine syndrome" FFS

Like anyone would think a generation that made One Direction, Justin Beiber and the like popular was educated on transcontinental politics and the economic ramifications of it.

All the youth today have is homogenised and pasteurised thinking. That's why people get so offended if you have a contrarian view. "You can't say that!" Well, open your ears, because I just did.
You've a good ability to pull things out of your arse Janus

Like shitty pop stars didn't exist before 2010.

The Libs AntiqueCopperToTheNode NBN would stop SkyNet from even becoming useful, let alone sentient.

So looks like my local Xenophon fellow is an anti vaxxer and Chinese herbologist or some such. o_O

Xenophon has a track record for bringing people even more objectionable than he is onto his ticket. See Ann Bressington.
