"as a mother"

Oh ok that's automatic immunity from saying some dumb shit and facing the appropriate consequences.

Anytime somebody prefaces an argument with "as a mother" I will not listen. I'd be more of a chance at listening if they said "as an intolerant barely educated right wing bigot who liked UPF memes" or the flipside "as an upper class free thinking progressive minded left thinker who has literally never left the inner city suburbs populated by people that look the same as me apart from backpacking around Europe in the winter to find myself". Both are more credible than "a mother".

"as a mother" as if no one else could possibly care about dead children. Only mothers.

Not just caring, but the very right of an opinion is revoked if you aren't a mother.

Also, why do all these people who say these things supposedly have gigantic social circles consisting of the very minorities they are persecuting? It must be easy to find friends if your gay, aboriginal, Asian, Muslim, transsexual... Like every time an AFL footballer stands up for a social issue. Bull-****ing-shit you have friends and family of whatever you're campaignering for, just do it cause it's the right thing!

Ease up. I remember going to a port Collingwood game at the MCG in 2004 and that guy was "borrowing" vodka red bulls from behind the bar. It was stealth like.

Somehow having this "friend" is akin to having diplomatic immunity in their heads.

How long does she think she'll keep these "beautiful Muslim friends" after she's basically told them "f@#k off we're full" on national TV?

Well if she has already invented them than I imagine her imagination and delusion will be strong enough to keep them forever.

**** me, why are nobody talk show hosts like Sonia Kruger even giving their opinions on complex societal issues. **** me indeed.

*shrug* why is a nobody like dylan giving opinions on complex societal issues? You're just upset because she is in a place of broadcasting power. Not unlike social media, in a way. Good on her for even having the balls to suggest what she did given the pro-islam bias in the media. Whether we like it or not, we need to have these conversations because blindly saying "okay" is equally as dangerous as blindly saying "shut them all out".

That said, it's interesting that she has an arts degree yet appears to lean to the right. MOAR LIKE RACIST FREDDY KRUGER.

Weird statement because you've said her opinion is dangerous but also 'good on her'. ???

Of course I'm upset that a person who qualifies her racist babble with "as a mother" is in a position where she can speak to a national audience.

"Pro islam bias" spare me.

Freddy Kruger wasn't racist. He was an equal opportunity killer. I have a Freddy Kruger doll signed by Robert Englund.

Man, the 80s were weird, when a child rapist horror movie icon was having toys made marketed to kids.

You're doing exactly what she said people would do and effectively proving her point by calling her comment "racist babble", the part about "as a mother" was obviously made because shock horror, she is a mother and she was most moved by the Nice tragedy through the deaths of the children. It's not actually that outlandish a qualifying statement to make. What you are arguing is that she has used it as a facade to make a racist comment, I disagree given the above.

In regards to her opinion being dangerous, it very well could be, but the whole point is to discuss and debate her opinion and not simply write it off, because at this point her opinion is a rapidly growing one shared by over 500k voters, likely more if you could identify the liberal voters who voted based on migration policy. It's a serious concern. Still, it took guts for her to say it because she knows fully that she will cop it, and she is.

As for the pro islam bias, i'll leave you to think what you want because i'm not interested in arguing this point.

Having these conversations will do us more harm than good when on one side of the fence we have a dancer from a 90s movie, and on the other side the perceptually outraged apologists that offer no solution other than "be nicer to everyone".

The lack of balance is concerning. The right go further right, the left go further left.
