Just got my ATAR (University Entrance Rank thingy) and got 95. Which is good enough to get into pretty much everything bar a few engineering and the higher medicine courses.

Intel make the chips for computers, Qualcomm started 20 years ago making chips with radio wifi technology embedded in the chip, for mobile phones, iPads, tablets and other mobile devices that need wifi connectivity.

Watch from the 24:00 minute mark for the last 5 minutes about the future of biomedicine/bio engineering. The rest of the program is pretty interesting if you are iteresting in general technology, engnieering issues.

I just watched the whole thing. It's quite scary but also very amazing at how technology is moving and changing so rapidly, such to the extent that we may even have a "digital sixth sense" in the very near future.



I watched this lecture on YouTube a few months ago by Professor Emeritus Al Bartlett of the University of Colorado-Boulder about the exponential function, and he uses it to show how the overpopulation of Earth is perhaps the most serious issue that we as humans are facing. The advances we are making in health science, such as the little chips that go in our blood stream to detect heart attacks two weeks in advance as Paul Jacobs suggested, and similar technologies, while an extraordinary feat of the human mind and its capabilities, perhaps will contribute to this overpopulation.

I love the Bay Area. Even the much maligned Oakland has its awesomeness. San Francisco is also great because public transport is excellent and you can get around everywhere with a bike.

To appreciate Los Angeles you definitely have to be staying in a nice area. The South Bay beach areas of Manhattan, Hermosa and Redondo are awesome.

From what I recall, Hollywood was the epitome of a dump, although Anaheim was really quite nice.

Almost forgot how good a player Darrell was. Such a nice mover with skills to match.

There were stories that Darrell would enjoy a smoke at half time. Can't imagine that a smoke at any time before, during or after a game would go down too well with Hinkley, if Darrell was playing today.

I once read that Darrell Cahill nearly finished up playing for Glenelg due to the mates he had at Glenelg, many of which he played golf with (Darrell apparently worked at the golf club there). Fortunatley he stayed at Port in the end, although I think a clearance application was put in).

I don't think smoking during breaks would have been that unusual pre mid 80's. I've even heard that Barrie Robran used to indulge in the tobacco habit at half time during the 1970's.

I once heard a story about Gary Ablett having a massive lamb roast an hour or so before a game, and then going on to kick a big of goals that day.

I think Cahills transfer request had to do with him being the greenskeeper at Glenelg Golf Course and not being arsed driving to Alberton after work.

No one at Port has mates at Glenelg.
